POSITION SUMMARY: The Bottling Operations Manager is responsible for all bottling operations, warehousing, specialty packaging, packaging procurement, and inventory management, all warehouse activities including shipping and receiving and inventory control. Ensures the proper sanitation and maintenance of all bottling line equipment. This position supervises the Bottling Line Supervisor, Lead Bottling Line Mechanic, Shipping/Receiving Supervisor and Warehouse Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directs the winery year round bottling operation
- Development and implementation of a production model aimed at eliminating waste, downtime, improving costs and delivery and instills continuous improvement and prevention
- Develops short and long-range goals and objectives for responsible departments.
- Reviews and analyzes activities, costs and operational effectiveness
- Ensures quality control is maintained in all aspects of bottling production
- Purchases packaging materials aligning deliveries with the bottling schedule to ensure adequate inventory of all bottling supplies.
- Generates purchase orders and approves and codes invoices as required.
- Supervises the line mechanics ensuring proper operation and care of equipment including preventative maintenance and immediate repair as necessary.
- Develops a system to ensure adequate inventory of spare parts and equipment to keep the line running
- Ensures daily proper sanitation of line equipment
- Responsible for the proper storage of all packaging materials at the winery and case goods at the distribution center, ensuring accurate inventory counts through regular cycle counting and physical inventories
- Ensures shipments are accurate and on time
- Directs special packaging or rework projects at the distribution center
- Ensures all safety rules are enforced
- Ensures training and development of the production staff
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, management or an equivalent discipline
- Minimum 7 years manufacturing/production experience in a food or beverage production facility with a high speed bottling line
- Knowledge of wine and wine production is strongly preferred
- Experience installing a new bottling line including research and recommendations on the equipment to purchase.
- Proven experience implementing measures to improve efficiency
- Ability to communicate across all levels of an organization.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
- Must be quality focused and team oriented
- Proficient in MS Office, Navision experience a plus
- Active California Driver’s license and the ability to be insured by the company’s insurance provider.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The bottling department is a noisy environment when the bottling line is running. The warehouse environment is cold and PPE is required in both of these areas. Must be able to sit, walk and use office equipment for up to 8 hours/day. Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, and climb ladders, occasionally. Must be able to lift and carry up to 55 lbs.
