Bottling Line Supervisor (Wine Jobs: Management & Administration)

POSITION SUMMARY: The Bottling Line Supervisor will be responsible for the overall efficient operation of the bottling line during assigned bottling shifts. This position will supervise multiple pieces of equipment and operators, and as many as four people that will be de-casing during the shift, making sure our standards of quality, efficiency, and safety are met. This role will work to maintain product specifications with direct feedback and oversight from the Quality Assurance team. This position will observe, maintain, and troubleshoot bottling line equipment. The Bottling Line Supervisor a critical part of the bottling team that, together with the Cellar Master, will be responsible for the maintaining, cleaning, operating, quality, and performance of the bottling line. This position will be trained in other areas of wine production including sanitation, filtration, general processing, and other cellar techniques. This position will report to the Production Manager.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee and ensure Quality Assurance on bottling line, including proper filtration, adequate fill levels, pressure in bottle, closure application, label placement, case-packing, and palletizing of products.
  • Maintain product specifications in accordance with the Oliver Winery Quality Program. 
  • Respond positively to the direction and observations of our Quality Assurance team and from supervisors.
  • Acts as shift manager on the bottling line, supervising up to seven operators during each shift.
  • Responsible for the sterilization and/or end-of-day cleanup of bottling line on bottling days.
  • Work with Cellar Master and Production Manager to troubleshoot equipment issues and maintain spare parts inventory.
  • Assist in preventative maintenance of machines, trouble shooting, reporting operation issues, cleaning.
  • Maintain a clean, clutter free bottling area and is responsible for maintaining and enforcing company safety procedures, company policies, GMPs and S.O.P (s).
  • Conduct team meetings with the bottling staff to communicate directives on quality and bottling objectives.
  • Perform cellar activities as needed including cleaning tanks, performing filtrations, wine movements, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of an associate's degree or equivalent combination of coursework and work history.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment. Bottling, liquid filling, and/or packaging industry preferred. 
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to be insured on company vehicles.
  • Work well in a team environment.
  • Be able to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Due to the nature of our business, must be over 21 years of age.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: This is a physical job in a winery/production setting that will require long periods of standing, walking, lifting, climbing ladders and the ability to observe others and the work environment. This position may occasionally be exposed to wet or humid conditions, work near moving mechanical parts, outdoor power equipment, chemicals, and outdoor weather conditions.


Typical Schedule: Full time, 40-45 hours a week. Monday – Friday. Availability 6:30am to 6:00pm on bottling days. Flexibility to start or close the bottling day on rotation, and to work over to complete scheduled bottling as needed.
