Overview

The sommelier at Mujo is responsible for the wine and beverage program development & management, greeting & welcoming guests, and coordinating & overseeing service with the Sushi Chef team. 

Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of the restaurant wine and beverage program including ordering, receiving, inventory, organization and cost management;

• Develop wine and beverage training program to improve employee knowledge, service, and sales;

• Ensure all guests receive excellent service;

• Perform daily operational duties including administrative tasks, reporting, and opening/closing procedures;

• Lead by example to create a cooperative culture and positive work environment representative of the CHG Core Values;

• Provide coaching, feedback, and guidance to service team members to ensure ongoing development, engagement and motivation;

• Ensure all team members adhere to CHG policies and procedures;

• Greet and welcome guests in a professional manner;

• Manage guest complaints and exceed their expectations;

• Maintain a clean work environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

• 3+ years in the hospitality industry in a sommelier role;

• Knowledge of Sake preferred, but not required;

• Experience in fine dining restaurants and service;

• Upscale sushi experience preferred, but not required;

• Competent understanding of budgets, cost management, and pricing;

• Ability to calculate and control beverage cost;

• Ability to communicate and work in English; additional languages beneficial;

• Competency and familiarity in Microsoft Office suite and Google products;

• Professional appearance, care and grooming;

• Ability to manage people and work in a team environment;

• Provide certification of Food Handler’s permit and Serve Safe certificate 

$15-$30/hr
