Brooks Wines is seeking a part-time Tasting Room Associate to serve, educate, and entertain our guests as they experience our award-winning wines alongside a pairing partner in NE Portland. We offer competitive pay, benefits, commission, and winery perks. This position will largely require independent work and management while continuing to strengthen our company's relationship with our Portland-based partner.

Saturday 11:00AM - 6:00PM
Sunday 11:00AM - 6:00PM

ABOUT BROOKS

Brooks is a family-owned winery in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. Brooks is the only winery in the US to be Demeter Certified for Biodynamics, a Member of 1% For The Planet, a Certified B Corporation, and a partner with Ecologi. Brooks donates it’s 1% proceeds to Kiss The Ground, a media and education non-profit focused on regenerative agriculture.

REQUIREMENTS:

At least 2 years of restaurant serving and/or tasting room experience is strongly preferred.
Wine knowledge is a plus.
OLCC Service Permit (or ability to get)
OR Food Handler (or ability to get)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following reflects the essential functions for this job. Other tasks may be assigned from time to time.
Duties include, but are not limited to:

Greet all visitors with enthusiasm and within one minute of arrival
Lead guests through wine tasting flights while educating them about the winery story, wines, commitments, events, wine club, and other offerings.
Learn and share specifics about our partner's product regarding sourcing, creation, and taste components. Offer guests strategic pairings alongside Brooks wine.
Ensure a fun and memorable customer experience.
Developing relationships with guests to convert into Wine Club members
Effectively sell wine, with the ability to “up-sell”
Set up / breaking down all indoor and outdoor tasting spaces.
Open and verify condition of wines, decanting when appropriate.
Prepare printed guest materials.
Open/Close POS system/registers.
Manage cash drawer.
Stock wine and merchandise
Perform sales transactions for wine and for carry-out and shipping orders
Maintain clean and organized guest spaces at all times
Provide warm, engaging and professional customer service with the ability to develop rapport with customers
Assist with monthly inventory
Provide exceptional service and go the extra mile for all guests
Represent the winery at outside functions when necessary
Quickly recognize the signs that a guest should not be served alcohol, take appropriate action to professionally address.
Behave in a professional and mature manner at all times

EXPECTATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Must have or actively seek excellent knowledge of wine and pairings with enthusiasm and continually learn new information and share
Excellent written and verbal communication skills (via telephone, e-mail, slack app, and face-to-face) are required
Enthusiastic, passionate and dynamic communication style
Comfortable speaking in front of crowds
Self-aware, able to work independently, and driven to make a difference
Must have a positive attitude and outlook with the ability to work within a team atmosphere
Must remain calm under pressure
Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends
Must be 21 years of age or older
Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
Must be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
Must be able to work in a fast-paced hospitality environment
Must be able to work in a team environment
