Enologist/ Assistant Winemaker Needed at Post Winery, Inc., the Region’s Largest Vineyards and Winery, located in Altus, Arkansas. Salary CWE Benefits
The Enologist/ Assistant Winemaker position is responsible for preparing wines for bottling, working with the lab technician to coordinate analyses, coordinating work orders with the Winemaker and Cellar technician, and ensuring quality wine production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure a positive environment where employees feel valued and respected. Dedicated to crafting quality wines, providing value to our customers, facilitating employee productivity, and continuing to improve our working environment. Providing sensory analysis in the cellar to ensure wine quality
Cellar:
- Conduct day to day winemaking operations:
- Working with the dept. manager and winemaker to conduct cellar operations and ensuring wine quality.
- Ensure SOPs and GMPs are being adhered to
- Completing work orders for all production related tasks from harvest to bottling.
- Ensuring records kept are TTB compliant
- Assist the winemaker and production manager with the training and mentor of cellar staff
- Assist with monthly inventory and tax reporting
Lab
- Conducting, managing, and reporting on lab experiments as requested by the winemaker.
- Working as a team with winemakers to ensure that wine blend profiles are adequately filled and bottling requirements are met on time.
- Participating in wine tasting at all stages throughout the winemaking process and conducting evaluations and assisting the winemaker in making adjustments as needed.
Vineyard
- Help with vineyard sampling and harvest
- Participate in grape receiving, crushing, pressing, and wine production operations during harvest.
General
- Adhering to state and federal regulations
- Conduct educational tastings and tours of the facility, when needed.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of the winemaking process and procedures.
Education/Experience/Skills:
- BS in Enology or related field
- Minimum 2 years of winemaking experience.
- Fundamental knowledge and education in viticulture and viticulture practices.
- Supervisory skills, ability to work well within a team environment and organized.
- Able to lift 50 pounds, sit or stand for extended periods, work in cold or hot temperatures.
- Computer proficiency in Excel, Word, and winemaking software.
