General Manager – Geneva Winery
Locations: Geneva & Batavia, IL
Geneva Winery is seeking an experienced, motivated General Manager to oversee operations at both of our Wine Bar & Tasting Room locations in Geneva and Batavia, Illinois. This individual will lead all aspects of service and operations, including food, cocktails, wine, beer, and coffee, while fostering a culture of hospitality, teamwork, and growth.

What You’ll Do
- Deliver uncompromisingly high-quality guest experiences through passionate, humble hospitality.
- Oversee and manage all areas of both locations, making final decisions on matters that impact the guest experience.
- Lead daily operations including scheduling, planning, and upholding standards for cleanliness, service, and product quality.
- Manage and develop staff, including interviewing, hiring, training, coaching, and performance management.
- Maintain accurate staffing plans and ensure both locations are properly staffed for all shifts.
- Adhere to company standards to increase sales while minimizing costs (labor, food, beverage, utilities, and supplies).
- Maintain restaurant image and atmosphere through attention to cleanliness, uniforms, and ambiance.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards to protect employees and guests; handle accident reporting promptly.
- Build strong relationships with employees, fostering a cooperative and positive work environment.
- Act as a problem solver—able to juggle multiple priorities, adapt under pressure, and recommend effective solutions.
- Help create systems, structures, and tools to support growth.
- Share your entrepreneurial spirit by contributing ideas to enhance both guest experience and team culture.
Who You Are
- Experienced: 5+ years in high-volume restaurant operations preferred; BA/BS in Hospitality or Restaurant Management is desirable.
- Hands-On Leader: Proactive, self-disciplined, and eager to coach and develop a team.
- Organized & Detail-Oriented: Exceptional time management and the ability to stay focused under interruptions.
- Hospitality-Driven: Strong sense of urgency, guest-focused mindset, and a love for great food, wine, and cocktails.
- Effective Communicator: Comfortable speaking one-on-one, in team settings, and in front of larger groups.
- Tech-Savvy: Skilled with MS Word, Excel, and general office equipment.
Working Conditions
- Flexible hours; must be available to cover shifts or emergencies as needed.
- Physical requirements include prolonged standing, bending, lifting up to 45 lbs, and repetitive motions.
- Work involves exposure to hot, cold, and potentially hazardous equipment.
