POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Tasting Room Manager, the Tasting Room Assistant Manager is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the winery Tasting Room. This includes building brand awareness and exceeding guest expectations by working with and through the staff and other departments to enhance sales, service, and visitor experience. The Tasting Room Assistant Manager is also responsible for supporting the achievement of revenue and wine club growth goals while supervising staff and operating expenses.

·         Helps ensure that each and every visitor enjoys their experience and leaves with a very high impression of our winery and wines.

·         Handles all aspects of tasting room scheduling, emergency calls and replacements. Works with the Tasting Room Manager and General Manager to ensure staffing is in line with monthly staff budgets allowances.

·         In conjunction with the Tasting Room Manager, manages and trains tasting room staff.

·         Establish the tone of leadership and empowerment of the staff by creating a positive and respectful work environment, by leading through example, consistent with 4.0 Cellars values.

·         Oversees team leads and daily staff in the tasting room to ensure proper hospitality and service is provided to all customers and that company procedures are employed in all sales and customer service transactions.

·         Be actively involved in the hiring, termination, advancement, promotion and other change of status of employees.

·         Provides clear, on-going communication to team leads and tasting room staff providing consistent and timely direction, establishing specific and clearly communicated performance goals and delivering meaningful regular performance reviews.

·         Possess commanding knowledge of POS system, including ability to effectively perform opening and closing procedures.

·         Works on tasting room floor, serves as a tasting room host, pouring wines and assisting in all aspects of tastings and hospitality.

·         Effectively sells wine and wine club memberships in the tasting room.

·         Participates and assists with special events that occur at the tasting room and event center. Schedules staffing as needed to assist with events.

·         Daily monitors and facilitates merchandising in the tasting room, ensuring that wine and non-wine displays are effective, neat and attractive for visitors to the tasting room.

·         Schedule all reservations for large groups and preferred tour companies.  

·         Assist the Tasting Room Manager to maintain an up to date tasting sheet, signage and promotional materials.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be 21 years of age
High School Diploma or Equivalent required
Min. two years of prior relevant experience in a managerial role required; tasting room retail, direct to consumer sales and hospitality industry experience will be preferred
Must be available to work weekends, special events and holidays
Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills are a must
Superior customer service skills and service driven
Friendly, positive and professional disposition when dealing with guests, vendors and team members
Demonstrated ability to multi-task, follow-up and work in a fast pace environment under pressure
Must have strong attention to detail
Pro-active and thorough in completing existing tasks and pursuing new assignments
Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and adherence to all safety regulations and operating procedures
POS system and general Internet navigation
Always maintain a professional appearance
Enthusiasm for wine and interest in expanding expertise
Must hold a valid driver’s license

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to frequently lift and carry weights of up to 40 pounds at varying frequencies
Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, standing, and twisting in the performance of various tasks
Ability to stand for long periods of time
