Full job description

Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Head Sommelier to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in wine service, a deep understanding of our diverse wine list, and a commitment to enhancing our guests' dining experiences through exceptional wine pairings and service. We are also looking for someone with a great story where there travels or experiences have helped you become a great sommelier.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Wine List Management:

Curate and manage the restaurant's wine list, ensuring it reflects current trends and customer preferences. Regularly update the list based on seasonality, availability, and customer feedback.

  • Wine Education:

Train and mentor staff on wine knowledge, service techniques, and proper pairing with menu items. Conduct tastings and seminars to enhance the team's understanding of our wine offerings.

  • Guest Interaction:

Provide personalized wine recommendations to guests, offering insights on flavor profiles, pairings, and serving suggestions to enhance their dining experience.

  • Inventory Control:

Oversee wine inventory, including ordering, receiving, and storing wine. Conduct regular inventory checks and manage costs effectively to minimize waste and loss.

  • Events and Promotions:

Collaborate with the management team to plan and execute wine-related events, tastings, and promotions to attract guests and elevate the restaurant's profile.

  • Quality Assurance:

Ensure all wines are served at the proper temperature and in the appropriate glassware. Maintain the wine cellar to guarantee optimal storage conditions.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

Certification from a recognized wine education program (e.g., WSET, CMS) is preferred.

  • Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a casual/fine dining restaurant as a Sommelier or Head Sommelier.

  • Knowledge:

Extensive knowledge of wine regions, varietals, and food pairing principles. Familiarity with the wine list attached is a plus.

  • Skills:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and educate guests and staff. Proficient in POS systems and inventory management software.

  • Passion:

A genuine enthusiasm for wine and a desire to share that passion with others.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
