WillaKenzie Estate, premium Pinot Noir producer in Oregon, is looking for 2 harvest interns, one for the cellar and one for the lab for our 2015 vintage. Both positions require at least one previous vintage of experience in a winery (preferably with Pinot Noir) and a passion for winemaking as well as the stamina to withstand long hours of manual labor for many days in a row. We are looking for team players with great attention to detail who understand and are comfortable with the basics of winery operations.
The cellar position as a harvest intern will run from mid-September through mid-November (start and end dates TBD). Tasks in the winery will include (but are not limited to): Vineyard sampling, fruit hand-sorting, crushing, pump-over and punch-down, pressing, tank racking, barreling, and maintaining the facility clean and organized.
The lab internship will also run from mid-September through mid-November (start and end dates TBD). The lab intern will spend about 50% of the time in the lab and 50% in the cellar. The tasks in the lab will include (but are not limited to): pH, TA and brix on grape samples and ferments.The laboratory intern is expected to have a good chemistry background both theoretical and practical. He/she would also have a general understanding of winery operation and a basic theoretical knowledge of the winemaking process. Most importantly, the laboratory intern should have a strong motivation for learning, a dedicated attitude towards quality and attention to details.
Experience on a forklift is a must.
The ability to lift 50lbs repeatedly and spend hours at a time on your feet is required.
