We are seeking a full time tasting room sales manager who is passionate about the wine industry, is a strong leader and a strong sales person. We expect you to be leader and a team player in a fast-paced environment that requires flexibility and multi-tasking. The tasting room sales manager’s primary goals are to increase profitability at tasting room through improved traffic, cost management, sales per customer, and sales per staff member. Reports to General Manager.
The Tasting Room Sales Manager will achieve these goals while delivering the Gilbert Cellars experience in the downtown tasting room via two key areas of responsibility:
1) manage and train sales staff while cultivating an superior customer service environment
2) develop and maintain standards of excellence in our offerings during daily operations
1. Staff Management & Customer Service Responsibilities
• Hire, train, motivate all tasting room sales staff and hold regular staff meetings
• Spend 50% of time on the sales floor as a manager
• Enforce codes & requirements (ie health cards, MAST permits, etc)
• Schedule staff according to cost mgmt, local events, and GC companywide needs
• Ensure wine club satisfaction among tasting room customers via close collaboration with wine club manager; Coordinate any needed wine club communication, initiatives, promotions or sales; Work with direction from Club manager to fill orders, perform data updates, handle inquiries
2. Operations Responsibilities
Admin
• Manage daily cash, weekly tips, report hours to bookkeeper
• Cut checks for vendors who deliver to the TR
• Create weekly cost analysis for food, wines, merch and other offerings, and a sales analysis; meet with GM to review.
• Track purchases and deliver paperwork weekly to bookkeeper
• Ordering/purchasing food, wine, merchandise, supplies to include weekly shopping at costco and/or sysco
Physical Space
• Ensure sure food and wine menus and any signage are accurate, clean, and current
• Maintain a clean and organized storage, cellar, sales floor, patio and office
• Keep the interior and exterior décor fresh, beautiful, and on brand
Communications & Community
• Participate in two monthly community meetings to develop prosperous partnerships: front st association (TH am) and downtown association of Yakima (TU am)
• Develop marketing for TR to increase foot traffic, including social media initiatives
• Outreach to other tasting rooms to develop new strategies
• Responsible for in-house programming and rentals, including book music and art for the cellar
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Experience in management, with demonstrated leadership abilities
2. Demonstrated multi-tasting ability, in a fast paced environment, preferably in the hospitality/restaurant industry.
3. Demonstrated passion for wine and wine industry
4. Retail/Sales experience (experience in wine/hospitality is desirable).
5. Excellent written and oral communication skills
6. Strong attention to detail
7. Strong time management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree
2. 2-3 years restaurant/hospitality management experience
Requirements:
1. Must be at least twenty-one years of age.
2. Able to lift and move 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
3. Strong proficiency using technology (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, POS)
4. Must be available and willing to work evenings and weekends
5. Valid Driver’s License
6. Reliable transportation
