Tasting Room Lead (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

Novelty Hill-Januik Winery is an iconic winery located in Woodinville wine country, twenty minutes outside of Seattle, Washington. We are a well-established venue with an exceptional culinary program, award-winning wines and state-of-the-art meeting and event facilities. 
This role is pivotal for providing superior customer service to all tasting room guests, while maintaining and running a very fast paced tasting. It goes beyond pouring and selling wine; the Tasting Room Lead is integral to the management and smooth operation of the tasting room by providing support and leadership in concert with the Tasting Room Manager and other Tasting Room Staff. 

Job Responsibilities:
•  Manage the floor of a tasting room representing veteran wine maker Mike Januik with exemplary poise and flexibility 
•  Be an independent problem solver and implement solutions 
•  Contribute input and implement ideas to support the financial success and growth of the tasting room
•  Effectively maintain the stocks of food and beverages available for purchase
•  Acquire and maintain thorough knowledge of winery and its wines
•  Lead the Tasting Room staff with strong, positive mentorship
•  Train, educate, and mentor new Tasting Room hires
•  Support management in team growth, strategic planning and decisions 
•  Be an integral player in support of the Wine Club Manager and Events Manager
•  Participate in all wine club events and releases
•  Work with Sales Department for VIP guests.

Qualifications:
•  A passion for wine, the wines of Washington, and a desire to continue learning.
•  Current Washington State Food Handler's card required. Must obtain Washington State Class 12 Liquor Permit within 30 days of hire.
•  Experience in a leadership role in a retail or restaurant environment.
•  Strong attention to detail and superb organizational skills.
•  Excellent oral and written communication skills.
•  Consistent Friday through Sunday availability. 
•  Must be in good physical condition, able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly, push up to 100 pounds with a dolly, and be able to stand on feet for up to 8 hours.
•  Completion or current enrollment in WSET or CMS programs or examinations.
•  Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from four-year university preferred.
