Communications Specialist (Wine Jobs: Management & Administration)

The Communications Specialist plays an integral role in developing and executing communications plans and activities to support Ste. Michelle Wine Estates’ portfolio of domestic and imported brands.

The successful candidate is a self-motivated individual who demonstrates strong critical thinking skills and excellent verbal and written communications skills; is extremely detail-oriented; and thrives in a face-paced, deadline-driven, ever-changing environment.

Essential Functions:
•  Coordinate wine sample mailings and press release distribution
•  Track media coverage using a variety of tools and enter coverage into internal database
•  Manage media lists and editorial calendars
•  Write media pitches, press releases, website copy and social media posts
•  Track product and sample inventories and monitor product release dates
•  Draft product fact sheets, brochures and other collateral materials
•  Assist with social media posting and monitoring
•  Prepare regular reports of media coverage and communications activities
•  Interface with Graphic & Promotional Services and Digital Marketing teams on development of various printed and digital materials
•  Manage online database of communications assets including product fact sheets, press kits, biographies, images and other items
•  Collaborate with and provide customer service to internal partners including Winemaking, Marketing, Sales, Sales Administration and Guest Services teams
•  Coordinate various internal tastings
•  Assist with event planning and staffing
•  Additional administrative functions as assigned by department managers

Working Conditions:
•  Corporate office environment
•  Infrequent travel

Physical Requirements:
•  Ability to lift and move heavy boxes and other items weighing up to 50 pounds
•  Ability to sit at a computer for extended periods of time
•  Ability to work weekdays, evenings and weekends as needed

Qualifications:
•  Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field
•  Minimum of three years’ experience in Communications or Public Relations
•  Public relations agency experience preferred
•  Outstanding verbal and written communications skills, ranging from one-on-one communication to large group presentations
•  Ability to work independently as well as with cross-functional teams
•  Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail
•  Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
•  Strong critical thinking skills and ability to make independent decisions
•  Ability to work effectively with international partners, managing potential language barriers and cultural sensitivities
•  Advanced proficiency with PC software including Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint; database experience also preferred
•  Strong experience with social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest; experience with Hootsuite social media platform also preferred
•  History of responsible use of alcohol and other appropriate conduct, as well as fitness to be licensed, permitted, and/or certified by state and/or local regulatory bodies.
