Cellar Worker (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Cellar Master, the cellar worker is responsible for carrying out all cellar operations and activities related to harvesting, winemaking, and preparing wine for bottling. During harvest this position will be focused on receiving grapes and juice, operating the press, receiving hopper and related equipment. This position is central to the success of the winery by providing front line support for all operations related to winemaking, wine filtrations, wine additions, and wine movements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Cellar Operations (75+%)
•  Work in safe manner and following all safety procedures.
•  Continuing cellar sanitation
•  Make wine additions as directed by the Cellar Master or Winemaker
•  Transfer wine between tanks
•  Sanitize tanks & processing equipment
•  Operate rotovac filter
•  Operate cross flow filter
•  Operate ED machine
•  Maintain cellar equipment as needed.
•  Gas partial tanks on a regular basis.
•  Drive forklift as needed
•  Pull samples as required for lab support.
•  Make suggestions to improve cellar operations.

2. Harvest Operations (<25%)
•  Winery & crush pad sanitation
•  Operate wine press
•  Operate grape dump hoist
•  Operate rotovac filter.
•  Dump grape bins using forklift.
•  Perform red wine pump overs.

Education/Experience/Requirements:
•  1-2 years prior winery experience
•  Ability to work overtime as needed
•  Extensive overtime during harvest
•  Ability to lift 50# on a regular basis
•  Experience driving a forklift preferred
•  Clear understanding of winery operations
