Location: Wayne, NJ
Gary’s Wine & Marketplace is currently seeking a full-time Wine Buyer who will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the French category of wines. Candidates should be proactive and possess an energy level that is consistent with a fast-paced and growing business. This position requires a resourceful and detailed-oriented team player who can meet project deadlines while managing multiple tasks.
Candidate will be responsible for:
· Selecting and purchasing all French wine including Champagne and Bordeaux futures
· Managing vendor/supplier relationships to ensure the best pricing and products
· Collaborating with buying team to select wines for all locations
· Building guest relationships, networking, as well as recommending wines to guests
· Assisting in the selection of wines to be featured in Gary’s email/marketing campaigns, as well as the Wine of the Month program
· Attending/Conducting tastings and seminars
· Training & Development of staff members regarding French wines
· Assisting the marketing team in writing articles about wine trends and producers
· Making forecasts for product demand to ensure the sustainability of inventory
· Developing exit strategies for unsuccessful products
Skills Required:
· Thorough knowledge of wine (International/Domestic), with a strong background in French wine
· Extensive knowledge of the wine purchasing process, including legal aspects
· Excellent communication and people skills
· Proficient in MS office
