JOB DESCRIPTION

This position will be responsible for leading the execution responsibilities in Washington/Alaska and achieving all volume and distribution goals for The Wine Group portfolio of brands through all Channels of trade including Retail Chains, On Premise and Fine Wine/Specialty Retailers. This position will also be responsible for developing and executing pricing/programming strategies with Southern Wine & Spirits in Washington and Alaska.  This position will be based out of the Seattle area.  This job description reflects management’s assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for annual sales volume, accounts purchasing, and points of distribution for the TWG portfolio throughout the states of Washington and Alaska.
  • Assist in developing and implementing annual operating plan which includes financial, volume and distribution objectives for WA/AK.
  • Responsible for building relationships through all levels of management at SGWS, owning key contact responsibilities for TWG communication.
  • Manage depletion and distribution objectives for all channels of trade.
  • Collaborate with TWG Regional Vice President and SGWS to ensure new item and monthly priority execution.
  • Schedule and lead effective distributor sales meetings – all levels of management.
  • Introduce creative sales execution concepts, share across state lines/regions if successful and aspire to be a leader in best practices within TWG.
  • Lead sales execution of the TWG in-store “5 Standards for Success”
    • Distribution: Schematic execution, adherence to all items expected to be in distribution
    • Shelf: Product Rotation/out of code management, shelf adjacencies, etc.
    • Floors: “3 Floors in every store”, scale/impression to consumer
    • Cold Box: New distribution, shelf location, proper adjacencies
    • Cross Merchandising: In/Out of department execution, product
  • Responsible for organizing and conducting quarterly business reviews
  • Develop and maintain key account relationships within the states of WA/AK.
  • Creating and driving incremental programs (ex. Trade Marketing, other customized goals for market of responsibility) to support monthly focus priorities in the market.
  • Manage budgets in the following categories:Pricing, Incentives, Customer support (known as “miscellaneous”), along with Travel & Entertainment expenses and other departmental
  • expenses.
  • Ensure all sales practices are compliant with state and company policies/laws.
  • Administrative Responsibilities:
    • Complete & review monthly Scorecard reports (depletion & distribution)
    • Maintain and change UPS pricing documents in a timely manner
    • Become familiar with FLASH and all relevant TWG Sharepoint sites
    • Forecast monthly sales
    • Re-Cap and follow up from weekly ride-a-long’s / meetings

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 or more years of experience in the alcoholic beverage industry and sales experience or related business with a knowledge and passion for both commercial and premium wines.
  • BA degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Intermediate wine knowledge or associated certifications preferred.
  • Must be well organized with an ability to work independently as well as in a team environment and be flexible to changes in the wine industry.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office user – capable of building presentations, sell sheets and correspondence.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willing to travel and with overnight stays as needed.
  • Ability to work and succeed in dynamic entrepreneurial environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to travel frequently, stay overnight between home office, client sites, and industry meeting events.
  • Primary work activities are within an office environment.
