Position Summary:

 

Sub-Forman is Leadership hands on position, part of the Winemaking team.

The person holding this position will be leading and training Team Leaders, Cellar Leads, and full time and seasonal cellar workers under the direction of Cellar Supervisor.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

The following is a summary of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned.

·         Plan and coordinate cellar processing activities including supervising cellar crews.

·         Knows, Implements and Enforces current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

·         Ensure Cellar staff follows company policies and safety, and standard operating procedures (SOP’s).

·         Willing to take an active role in cellar work; sets up, runs and clean up.

·         Responsible to maintain a clean, orderly and safe all winery areas.

·         Ensure that all cellar workers properly clean and sanitize pumps, hoses, tanks and cellar fittings before and after use.

·         Help set up and ensures that everything is ready to load and unload in a timely manner bulk wine tankers.

·         Help set up filtrations and check the integrity of the wine been filtered.

·         Help perform additions and adjustments to wine.

·         Performs simple maintenance throughout the cellar.

·         Maintains compliance and enforce all ORW policies, procedures and requirements as well as all state and federal laws.

·         Successfully work as part of a team and is responsible for developing and maintaining strong working relationships with co-workers.

·         Attends staff meetings and training as required.

·         Perform general office tasks as required and help to write SOP’s.

·         Perform special assignments, projects, and other duties as required.

·         Perform the above with minimal supervision.

Other Functions:

·         Responsible for understanding Quality Management System related activities, including the quality policy and ISO awareness.

·         Acts as the HACCP team member responsible for team training, understanding, and adherence.

·         Food Safety Responsibility, Report problems with the food safety management system to supervisor.

·         Complete other special projects for the Winemakers as directed

·         Supervise the preparation of cellar chemicals, fining agents and Oak.

·         Use Forklift to move Barrels, equipment and chemicals as needed.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

·         5-10 years of cellar work experience.

·         High School Diploma or GED

·         Strong Leadership Skills and detail oriented.

·         Knowledge of all Safety Regulations within the Wine Industry.

·         Excellent communication skills.

·         Attention to detail and ability to follow through with projects.

·         Basic Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and WMDB)

·         Ability to accurately carry out written and verbal instructions.

·         Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as a "team player."

·         Willing to work at a fast pace environment.

·         Ability to respond to frequently changing production pressures to meet demand.

·         Ability to work in a safe, efficient and cooperative manner.

·         Ability to perform regular strenuous physical work.

·         Ability to operate all winery process machinery in an efficient, safe and sanitary manner.

·         Ability to Lead, supervise and train a large crew of seasonal employees during crush

·         Familiarity with filtrations (Velo, Rotovac, Lees Filter, Centrifuge and Xflow), pump operation, sanitation procedures and safety procedures.

·         Ability to read, understand and speak English.

·         Ability to lift 50 Lbs to move objects on a safe way.

·         Ability to walk on uneven and slippery floors, stand, bend, kneeing and sit, sometimes for prolonged periods of time.
