Tasting Room Associate (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

This is a great opportunity to meet and work with some wonderful people and learn about every aspect of the wine making process. 

These are the qualities we are looking for in a tasting room/winery assistant

First and foremost a pleasant and friendly disposition.

Basic wine knowledge and  a desire to learn more.

Ability to lift and stack wine cases (forty pounds per case) by hand and handcart.

Ability to work on feet for at least 8 hours.

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Must have initiative, high energy, excellent communication skills

Ability to efficiently host multiple groups of people simultaneously.

Ideally have experience in hospitality and sales, or good people skills

Experience with POS systems an advantage.

DLLC and Food Handlers Certification an advantage.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Greeting guests in a warm and friendly manner.

Speaking knowledgably and enthusiastically about the wines.

Engaging guests in conversation and being able to answer questions about wines, grapes and vineyard history.

Pouring selected wines and assisting consumers with their purchases.

Operating cash registers accurately and efficiently.

Participating in special events and pouring opportunities as needed.

Checking identification as required by state regulation for serving alcoholic beverages.

Recognizing any symptoms of intoxication and informing a manager.

Effectively suggesting the right wines to sell wine to customers.

Assisting customers with carry out of purchases.

Preparing the tasting room for opening and closing.

Restocking merchandise and supplies.

Washing/polishing glassware.

Ensuring the tasting room and restroom are kept tidy.

Assisting with bottling and labeling wines
