Senior level manager, reporting to the PR Director, supervising an Associate Social Media Manager and a PR Specialist and working hand in hand with the Marketing team to develop and execute PR programs for the Deutsch wine and spirit portfolio that raise media, trade and consumer awareness while staying on-strategy and within budget guidelines.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Develop and implement PR plans for the Deutsch wine and spirits portfolio
· Execute brand campaigns and ensure flawless execution
· Manage events including media events, seminars and other consumer/trade events
· Identify media trends, news cycles and spin opportunities, including proactive pop culture news integrations
· Pitch stories to both national and local media. Achieve highest visibility for print, broadcast, TV and online media outlets
· Manage PR agencies for specific brands
· Manage program budgets in conjunction with brand teams
o Analyze and measure results of PR programs
o Manage relationships with agencies and partners
o Regularly measure ROI and report results
· Organize PR aspects of winemaker visits including media interviews and events
· Execute clear and compelling PR assets including press releases, pitch letters, executive speeches, byline articles and reports
o Edit media materials for brand
· Supervise and be on top of the scores process, working closely with the PR Specialist to ensure samples are sent to media and competitions, stay on top of trade editorial calendars and deadlines and confirm that all review opportunities are met promptly
· Provide counsel on social media plans and recommendations; be able to defend in front of PR Director and Marketing teams
· Overnight travel and attendance at evening/weekend events required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Business or related field
- 8-10+ years experience in professional public relations capacity, ideally with some CPG experience; agency experience preferred but not necessary; wine and spirits experience preferred but not necessary
- Passion for wine and spirits
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent event planning skills
- Strong media relationships
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and flexibly in a rapidly changing, fast paced environment of a growing wine and spirit company.
· Ability to forge relationships and add value to PR and Marketing teams
- Proven desire and ability to think creatively
- Willingness to innovate and develop relationships with key opinion leaders and organizations
- Detail oriented, strong organizational and project management skills
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task and get things done with a team player attitude
- Ability to work independently and manage people / projects with minimal supervision
- Energetic and upbeat attitude
- Social media acumen
