Tasting Room Manager (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

Markham Vineyards, Napa Valley's fourth oldest continuously operating winery has an immediate opening for a Tasting Room Manager. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and driven individual to provide leadership, support and training to our existing team of wine educators. 

In addition to managing the daily tasting room operations, this individual must have experience in retail compliance reporting, order processing and a strong background in DTC customer service and social media communications.

Under the direction of and collaboration with the Director of Hospitality, this individual will oversee the following:

-Train, Supervise and Evaluate Wine Educators. Provide support and coaching as needed to improve and develop individual and group sales performance
- Conduct weekly staff meetings to discuss goals & performance
- Develop and conduct marketing outreach (in person, via email and phone) to local hospitality partners and tour companies.
- Maintain outreach and mailing list database/track outreach and wine club referrals
- Accurately handle all sales transactions, including the opening, closing and daily operations of cash register (Proficiency w/ AMS preferred)
- Maintaining accurate count of daily inventory and samples used in tasting room.
- Assist in planning and implementation of Wine Club and Hospitality events
- Work with the Director of Consumer Sales to successfully execute the monthly, quarterly and yearly marketing calendar
- Works with Wine Club Manager to develop wine club experiences that deliver on-going loyalty as well as assisting w/ account maintenance and member management
- Collaborate with Events Manager to assist in the creating of guest experiences for large groups
- Process all shipping orders (Visitor Center, phone & internet) and ensure that all orders are within states individual regulations
- Monthly Retail Compliance Reporting
- Create and promote new visitor experiences


Key Competencies & Preferred Qualifications:
* Solid understanding of social media platforms, specifically, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Google+, blogs, and YouTube
* Outstanding customer service and communication skills
* Motivated and inspiring team leader
* Knowledge of wines and wine production
* Experience with AMS POS system
* Knowledge of ShipCompliant
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
* PC skills including MS office products: Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, Internet browsers, etc. 
* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
* Must be 21 years of age or older

Physical Requirements: 
Able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
Able to stand for extended periods of time
