Long Meadow Ranch has an exciting opportunity to join the winemaking team as a Harvest Cellarmaster! Long Meadow Ranch is a family-owned and operated producer and purveyor of world-class wine and food that is economically successful and socially responsible using diversified, sustainable, and organic farming methods. Long Meadow Ranch produces award-winning wines, handcrafted extra virgin olive oils, grass-fed beef, eggs, and heirloom fruits and vegetables.
We are seeking a Harvest Cellarmaster as a shift leader for crush, ferment and barrel down activities at our winery.
Responsibilities
- Lead and be accountable for all shift activities during Harvest
- Prioritize, facilitate and supervise operational activities in the cellar area and barrel rooms
- Supervise and train cellar workers in the performance and quality of cellar and cleaning procedures, ensuring compliance with all operational policies and procedures
- Perform all levels of wine-work and equipment operations
- Ensure proper equipment use, maintenance, storage, and sanitation for all cellar equipment
- Reconcile and approve completed work orders before they are returned
- Special projects and other responsibilities as assigned
Responsibilities if possess proper level of experience
- Running crush equipment and sorting fruit
- Barrel cleaning, stacking and filling
- Cap management
- Press operations
- Juice / wine transfers
- Additions and Inoculations
- Daily Brix and Temperature measurements
- Equipment sanitation and cleaning
Education, Experience and Required Skills
- Minimum 5 years of winery production experience (premium winery preferred)
- Good verbal communication skills
- Remain positive, detail-oriented and energetic in the face of long hours
- Lift and carry 75 lbs. repeatedly
- Follow written and oral English instructions
- Provide reliable transportation with a valid license
- Work rotating shifts, long hours and most weekends in a fast paced environment
- Walk and stand for long periods of time
- Climb up and down stairs
Compensation
- This is a temporary position to begin Late August and end at the completion of Harvest 2017.
- Competitive compensation depending on experience.
