POSITION SUMMARY:
The purpose of this position is to market, sell, organize and work all group events at the winery.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Coordinate and plan all aspects of winery events.
*Conduct site inspections, negotiations and sales of all events
*Monitor and maintain inventories and order as needed all event supplies and rentals.
*Verify and approve all incoming rental orders and deliveries.
*Act as winery representative during events to include conducting tours and leading wine sales. This includes all trade visits, tours and luncheons associated with trade visits.
*Prepares proposals, contracts, billings, and maintains event files and event profit and loss statements.
*Creates itineraries, timelines and communicates with winery staff.
*Acts as onsite manager during all events.
* Performs all set up, break down and closing duties.
*Markets winery and event department by participating in local networking events, trade shows, mixers, offsite tastings etc.
*Establish and maintains strong relationships with all existing and potential clients and vendors.
*Manage winery, event, catering and art-time staff during events.
*Ensures public and staff safety at all events through responsible alcohol service and compliance with health/safety regulations.
*Additional tasks include- acting as back up to tasting room staff when needed, responsible for closing up winery/tasting room when needed, acts as back up for processing daily deposits and wholesale order processing in AMS.
*This position reports directly to the Director of Hospitality.
KEY POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
*Knowledge of wine and winemaking process
*Knowledge of proper service etiquette
*Ability to speak in front of large groups
*Strong attention to detail, highly organized with ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects
*Customer service and detail oriented
*Able to work evening and weekend events
*Experience with cash register/AMS software experience a plus
*Able to handle stressful situations while remaining calm
*Ability to calculate figures and amounts
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
*Bachelor’s degree (BA) from a four-year college or university, or one to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
*Food Safety Manager Certification
*Certified Meeting Planner (CMP), Meeting Planners International are preferred but not required
*Excellent written and oral communication skills
*Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required
*Must have a reliable vehicle, possess valid CA driver license
*Must be 21 years of age or older
*Winery industry experience a plus
*Able to lift and carry up to 50lbs. and to stand for extended periods of time
