JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced hospitality/restaurant supervisor to help us lead our team. The Tasting Room Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting the business objectives of the Tasting Room by providing a professional operation that ensures exceptional service to customers and reflects superior leadership while supervising and mentoring the sales staff.  Successful candidates will have leadership experience in a high volume, upscale restaurant setting and possesses high energy, enthusiasm, is very organized and has a solid business sense to drive a successful business.  Supervisors must be able to lead by example and perform all essential job functions of the team (front of house & back of house), including greeting guests, serving tables and providing wine education, preparing foods, etc.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Duties:

  • Leads and directs the activities of the Tasting Room team to achieve business priorities: daily sales goals, club memberships, profit generation and brand promotion.
  • Assists manager preparing for each day in assigning tours/groups/VIP’s, sections, and side work to staff accordingly.
  • Monitors server sales throughout the day and adjusts seating/sections accordingly to maximize service and table turns especially during peak hours.
  • Excel in performing all Team Member tasks to include: server, host, bar, food prep, runner, busser, and cashier for flexibility to support staff as needed including any tasks assigned.
  • Maintain fast accurate service, ensure an excellent customer experience, and makes sure all products are consistent with company standards.
  • Leads Team Members and directs all daily operations in our restaurant style environment in the absence of the manager to include: opening/closing, ensuring all food prep is complete, manage staff breaks and shift changes, and completes a shift summary report.
  • Makes sure tasting room is up to company standard with regards to cleanliness and neatness in all facility areas inside and out, and customer accessibility.
  • Greets guests with inviting and professional service. And offers beverages to guests waiting more than 10 minutes for a table.
  • Motivates, coaches, and assists in the training of new team members to include: beverage service, sales techniques, food handling, guest service, and safety.
  • Provides day-to-day guidance to ensure that staff operates according to standards for professionalism, customer service and that the company policies and procedures are followed by all staff members. Identifies behavior or performance problems and addresses to take immediate correction action.
  • Ensures that daily tasting room “opening” and “closing” procedures are attended to by staff.
  • Maintains retail areas keeping them well stocked and organized throughout the day.

 Customer Service/ Hospitality:

  • Continually ensures that the GF/FX exceptional service standards are maintained.
  • Performs standard Tasting Room Sales staff duties including greeting customers, conducting tours periodically, providing wine education and operation of cash register and credit card machine. Provides table service of wines to our visitors as needed.
  • Carries out duties associated with the “opening” and “closing” of Tasting Room transactions, including accounting for daily sales and bank deposits.
  • May be requested to attend special events and tastings outside the winery for special pourings.
  • Manage staff accordingly to cover the daily tasting schedule and visitor calendar.

 Other Responsibilities

  • Continual development of staff to meet short and long term goals necessary to retain and grow staff in their current positions. Develop staff to be able to transfer to other functions or be promoted within the organization.
  • Ensures that the FX/GF culture is consistently supported in all business and employee interactions, which includes both ethical and legal aspects, complying with federal and state laws and FX/GF company policies and procedures.
  • At least monthly creates new ways to improve job performance
  • Be aware of good talent in the hospitality industry and refer candidates to join our team.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists with the activities and development of Tasting Room staff.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include retention, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work.  Assists the Tasting Room Manager in appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications: 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Retail sales and/or food and beverage service experience helpful.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional customer service and strong leadership experience.
  • Must be comfortable with public speaking. Some wine knowledge preferred, but not required.
