Description

To assist winemakers as needed in all areas of production, lab analysis, record keeping and inventory while optimizing quality, efficiency and winery safety.
• Provide hands-on participation and support for operations relative to daily production activities. 
• Perform and record lab results into wine tracking database.
• Assist in wine production and monitoring of bulk wine inventory. Conduct month-end inventory.
• Help supervise and track cellar workorder execution, compile reports and inventory activity summaries.
• Assist in grape crush, press and ferment of juice and monitoring of fermentation of wine.
• Provide backup to winemakers in their absence in areas of wine production and barrel operations. 
• Assist in the supervision of cellar and barrel personnel in absence of winemakers and Cellar master 
• Maintain cellar records, inventory and materials counts using Vintners Advantage and JDE.
• Act as liaison providing technical support to Q.C. and Lab operations at other facilities.
• Set up and participate in tastings and trials in support of winemaking and cellar activities.
• Maintain and update bottling Q.C., bottling totals, packaging materials inventory and communication with other departments around supplies receiving and usage. 
• Manage M.S.D.S. database and confirm that company safety policies are being followed correctly. 
• Assist in tastings for trade, technical or consumer group meetings.
• Help train temporary lab personnel and harvest interns.
• Schedule maintenance of lab equipment and ensure accuracy/precision of all data from laboratory
• Help maintain winery facility, equipment, operations, safety and support winemaking staff in all production functions.
• Working knowledge of Spanish a plus.
• During periods other than harvest, 40 hour week split evenly between office setting and cellar environment.
During harvest period, 60-75 hour work week split between office setting approximately 40% and 60% cellar environment
• Ability to periodically lift up to forty pounds
• Ability to work extended hours during peak periods
• Ability to work in cold, damp cellar environment
• Ability to climb stairs and work at heights
• Working with hazardous chemicals

Requirements

• Minimum Age requirement of 21 when working within winemaking.
• Some supervisory skills.
• B.S. degree in Enology, Viticulture, Food Science or related field required. 
• Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Must have the ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English
• Supervisory skills helpful
• Must possess strong organizational skills as well as high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Must have experience and competency in Excel, Word, and other software. 
• Must be able to travel and work in other Ste. Michelle locations as needed 
• Must be able to work extended hours and shift rotation. 
• History of responsible use of alcohol and other appropriate conduct, as well as fitness to be licensed, permitted, and/or certified by state and/or local regulatory bodies.
