6 and 3 months harvest internships (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

Contract

  Emeritus Vineyards

  Sebastopol, California

Emeritus Vineyards produces exclusively pinot noir from our two estate vineyards in the Russian River Valley. We are dedicated to coaxing the very best from our generous clonal selection and vineyard block diversity. For the 2017 harvest we are looking to bring in approximately 150 tons, the rest will go to some of the best producers in the area. We are a small team and there is an opportunity to perform or participate in all harvest activities. You won't be stuck sampling all day here!

6 month intern position:

We are looking for 1 person to start with us before bottling at the end of July and continue on with us through the end of the 2017 harvest. This person will be primarily responsible for lab analysis during bottling and harvest but will also have ample time in the cellar when the need for analysis is lower (this could be on a daily or weekly basis). Basic lab analysis (brix/density, pH, TA, VA, FSO2) and basic cellar skills (pump operation, sanitary habits, chemical handling) are a highly desired. This position will have the potential to carry out increasingly complicated tasks (enzymatic analysis and microscopy) and at times with minimal to no supervision. Must be willing to work with a flexible schedule, some weekend work required. A great way to hone your lab skills and gain confidence in the cellar too!

2-3 month intern position:

We are looking for someone to be based primarily on the crushpad and in the cellar, but will also have the opportunity to sample in the vineyard as well as carry out some basic analysis. This person will be focused and detail oriented and will preferably already possess some cellar skills and knowledge (press/pump operation, sensory abilities, knowledge of fermentation process, excellent hygiene habits, safety minded etc. forklift experience a plus). This will be a dynamic position that can have you involved in every step of the process in the cellar. A great way to increase your knowledge of the Pinot Noir winemaking process and work with a small, dedicated team of winemakers. Must be willing to work with a flexible schedule, some weekend work required. Must love music and rubber boots!

Both positions require that you be reliable, adaptable, and always ready to fill in where there's a gap. Sense of humor and a positive attitude are needed to succeed in these positions.
