POSITION SUMMARY

This individual will perform minor repair, modification and preventative maintenance tasks to assist in maintaining the Winery buildings, facilities, equipment, fixtures and systems. May assist with all other Facilities departmental needs. Will consistently demonstrate the Winery’s commitment to high quality, sustainable practices and energy and resource conservation.

This is a regular, hourly full-time position working approximately 8 hours, 5 days a week. Days/hours may vary. Overtime and/or additional hours may be required to meet operational needs, particularly during harvest.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assists in the performance of a variety of maintenance-related duties in areas such as plumbing, painting, and mechanical maintenance, electrical, and HVAC, carpentry, using a variety of hand, portable and industrial power tools.
  • Provides assistance with preventative maintenance of buildings, equipment, and mechanical systems and with installation, repairs, modifications and ongoing maintenance of equipment, systems and facilities.
  • Coordinates material requirements for repair, modification and preventative maintenance tasks. Maintains adequate supply of materials in stock and arranges purchases of needed supplies.
  • Follows general housekeeping procedures to include work areas and tools.
  • Assists in the movement and assembly of furniture, movement of materials and equipment, as needed.
  • Reports any cleaning, equipment repair & maintenance or building security concerns to supervisor or management.
  • Drives forklifts, trucks and other vehicles as necessary to perform maintenance job responsibilities, as well as Production and/or Vineyard maintenance related activities.
  • Assists with landscaping responsibilities when needed.
  • Ensures safe work practices and adheres to all safety policies and procedures, including but not limited to, timely and accurate reporting of all work-related injuries and illnesses to the supervisor, promoting safety awareness to co-workers, advising the supervisor of any unsafe acts and conditions and wearing required personal protective equipment.
  • Special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience/Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year maintenance experience in manufacturing environment with mechanical and/or industrial skills or equivalent combination of education and experience. Winery experiences a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook beneficial.
  • Good written and verbal English communication skills. Spanish language skills a plus.
  • Must read and interpret instruction manuals and written work orders.
  • Strong teamwork, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness and ability to work within constantly changing priorities.
  • Ability to solve practical problems associated with facility maintenance and understand and follow all safety requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean DMV record.
  • Certifications to operate required vehicles.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Job responsibilities will be performed in all areas of the winery and production facilities. Some areas are cold, wet, slippery and noisy. Heavy equipment and moving parts are present in various areas. The production department presents a work environment that can vary from a cellar setting to rooftop work. Must be able to work indoors and outdoors (field to shop), as well as at heights (ladders, scissors and snorkel lifts) and in varying temperatures.

While performing the maintenance related duties, the employee will be required on a regular basis to walk, kneel, bend and stand for prolonged periods of time, climb stairs and catwalks, use a variety of hand, portable and industrial power tools, read, talk and hear for extended periods of time. The employee must be able to regularly lift and carry up to 55 lbs. and drive forklifts, tractors, trucks and other vehicles. Must be able to work field to shop, as well as at heights (ladders, scissors and snorkel lifts) and in varying temperatures. Must be able to work overtime and flexible schedules as needed to support facility and maintenance operations and requirements. May require handling of hazardous materials on an occasional basis. Work can be impacted by constant interruptions and urgent changes in job priorities.
