Lead Intern & Harvest Interns (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

Contract

Pellegrini Wine Company / Olivet Lane Estate

  Santa Rosa, California

Pellegrini Wine Company, a small, family-owned winery located in West Santa Rosa, is seeking individuals eager to assist with our fall harvest. The Pellegrini Harvest Internships offer an opportunity to work as an integral part of a small team dedicated to small-lot, hand-crafted wine production techniques.

Pellegrini Wine Company specializes in the production of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from our estate, the Olivet Lane Vineyard, as well as small-lot Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Zinfandel from other distinctive Russian River Valley sites. We also serve as a premium custom crush facility for select winery clients from across Sonoma County.

Pellegrini Harvest Interns work closely with the Winemaker in carrying out a variety of hands-on winemaking tasks, including (but not limited to): fruit sampling, grape processing, yeast inoculations, fermentation additions, punch downs, juice racking, barrel filling, barrel stirring and topping. These daily tasks will be performed around a core of cleaning duties, preceded and followed by more cleaning. All harvest interns will receive training and certification in forklift operation.

We are looking for people with a passion for wine and great enthusiasm for crafting wines of exceptional quality. We require, above all else, a positive attitude. Additional job requirements include effective and respectful communication skills, keen attention to detail, timeliness, dependability, ability to follow directions exactly every time, sense of urgency, ability to work well within a team, ability to embrace the Zen of repetition, willingness to work hard, get dirty and wet, and clean scrupulously. We value a sense of humor and a diverse playlist.

The term for the Harvest Intern position is mid-August through end of October.

One Lead Harvest position will be offered to a highly skilled candidate. The Lead Harvest Intern will work as a key member of the winemaking team and will perform support duties, including acting as the evening shift supervisor. This position requires minimum experience of three prior vintages. The term for the Harvest Intern Lead position is approximately mid-July through mid-November.

Applicants should be prepared to work a variable schedule and extended hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays. Interns must be able to perform strenuous physical tasks, such as bending, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, climbing stairs and ladders.

Non-U.S. citizens must secure a J-1 Visa.
