Tasting Room Manager (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

Winery is looking for an experienced, hands on, dedicated team player with outstanding management skills to supervise and lead the day to day operations. Company is family owned and operated, results and sales driven and strives to provide guests with a memorable experience.

The tasting room floor manager has a strong focus on sales, daily operations and customer service. This position requires you to show and lead by example to instill communication, customer service and sales in your staff. The ideal candidate will have experience in sales, outstanding customer service, effective management, excellent problem solving skills, and the ability to set and surpass goals. Must be organized, have a positive attitude and have the ability to multi task while retaining leadership and composure in a busy environment. Must be sales savvy and creative, with the ability to create displays, motivate staff and create an exciting work environment while remaining focused as a team on the goal of the company. The ideal candidate is career oriented and focused on leading the sales team to increased profits and success.

Position Description:

• Management of overall floor (retail sales) operations
• Motivates, participates and sets goals for increasing department sales
• Ensuring all customers are proactively approached and enticed to try wines, samples of food products, etc
• Train and motivate staff with up selling tools and techniques
• Effectively manages gross profit, inventory and labor costs
• Staff management including, hiring, scheduling, training, disciplinary actions, etc
• Allocate and assign daily tasks to staff
• Follows, trains and implements all policies and procedures for the department including safe food and beverage service adhering to local, state and federal standards
• Oversees and coordinates among staff the preparation of all daily group reservations, tastings, private tastings and group food orders
• Creates purchase orders, places orders and receives orders with vendors as needed for products
• Actively participates in monthly physical inventory cycle counts (even if it falls on your day off)
• Ensures company procedures are followed to maintain an accurate inventory
• Manages will call pick-ups for wine orders and any necessary changes to existing orders for accuracy
• Manages rotation for wine menus, food rotation and samples
• Maintains a cleanly department throughout the day and enforces procedures to practice safe food and beverage handling and sanitation

Physical Requirements:

• Able to stand, move & walk for the duration of your shift
• Ability to bend, twist, push, pull and regularly lift up to 40lbs
• Ability to pass drug and background screening
• Ability to work weekends
