Looking for an experienced, results oriented, senior level sales professional to launch new import portfolio in California.
Established Italy-based export management company is looking for an experienced wine sales professional to run sales at its startup US import business. The parent company, based in Italy, works with an established portfolio of small- and mid-sized Italian wineries in building commercial distribution internationally.
Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, the Sales Manager will be working to secure new on- and off-premise distribution and grow sales. At outset, virtually all time will be spent in the trade making key account calls, securing orders and generally growing the distribution base. Subsequently, the professional will have the option of moving into a managerial position responsible for multiple sales staff, if desired.
Other responsibilities include;
- Develop new accounts, manage existing relationships and recommend distributor additions in uncovered market
- Generate and implement distributor sales incentives and other promotional programs
- Conduct sales meetings to introduce sales programs and communicate product attributes
- Participate in sales target formulation and provide input for financial budgeting
- Achieve sales and distribution goals within specified territory and provide reporting as needed
In this highly visible role, you will be working closely with the parent company’s founding partners, who in just two years have built an organization representing a strong portfolio of Italian wineries in international distribution, including coast-to-coast distribution in the US. The Sales Manager will initially cover the San Francisco Bay Area directly and may also support sales activities in other areas.
Professional experience and other personal qualifications include;
- Required minimum of 3 years Italian wine importer and/or wholesaler experience in the San Francisco area, with history calling on key wine buyers and retail & restaurant groups; must have account relationships
- Desire to eventually lead a sales staff
- Highly motivated, well organized self-starter with strong time management and presentation skills and an entrepreneurial spirit; reliability, honesty and integrity are absolute requirements
- Willing and able to travel extensively within assigned territory with rare overnight and to work evenings and weekends when necessary
- College degree preferred. Proficient in MS Office. Must have home office with internet access & cell phone
- Must reside in the San Francisco Bay Area and have a valid driver’s license, car insurance and a dependable vehicle
- Capable of lifting/moving 40+ lbs.
