We are looking for a highly analytical finance leader to join the Campari America Team.  The Director Finance, FP&A Product Supply Chain (PSC) US is responsible for managing the finance related processes and outputs supporting the (PSC) organization for Campari America.  The related activities include, but are not limited to, controlling, monitoring, tracking and analysis for the financial area of PSC US.  This role provides the primary reporting and confirmation to the VP Finance – Campari America, and ensures that the appropriate controls are in place within the PSC finance organization.  The position will ensure timely delivery of budgets and forecasts, ensuring timely submission to meet the country, region and Group planning requirements. The Director Finance, FP&A – PSC US will liaise and work with the business Finance FP&A, Controlling and Commercial Operations teams.   The position will provide support to PSC decision-making process, liaising with Regional CFO, VP Product Supply Chain USA and Regional Director, FP&A PSC BUNA.  This role is based in our San Francisco office.

The Director Finance – BP&A will work closely with the Finance VP & Officer Campari America, the Controller to develop and fulfill the mission and purpose of Finance for Campari America. The purpose of Finance, in a generic sense, is threefold:

  • Enabling – to provide financing activities to fund the business and provide accountability to stakeholders;
  • Sustaining – in general terms, keeping score and ensuring control, the latter encompassing asset stewardship, as well as ensuring the achievement of business plans;
  • Enhancing – the provision of financial leadership, decision support and improving effectiveness through ongoing organizational learning.

Drives business value and operating leverage through effective financial planning, analysis, reporting and controls.

Key Responsibilities and Activities

Financial Planning & Analysis:

  • Oversee and coordinate the execution of the PSC annual planning process to include budgeting and forecast updates in line with group and regional calendar and model.
  • Lead team to ensure delivery of weekly and monthly regional financial management information and high level commentary for distribution with Leadership team and key stakeholders. 
  • Ensure an effective and transparent info/data flow with the aim to proactively support PSC leadership decision process and to proactively identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Ensure the provision of timely data and/or analysis to support the innovation and new product development process. 
    • Provides initial analysis on the regional business plans and regional monthly/quarterly performance; develops and compiles the monthly/quarterly PSC local reporting pack.
    • Guarantee accurate standard COGS elaboration as well variance analysis along the year.
    • Develops and maintains planning and reporting models in excel and relevant corporate information systems, under the guidance and supervision of the Finance VP as well as the Regional PSC Finance
    • Develop and track performance measures that link to PSC and general business strategic objectives.
    • Identify risks and opportunities and proactively take initiative to resolve issues, mitigate risks and/or exploit opportunities.
    • Provide monthly reporting and ad hoc analysis to key stakeholders as needed.
    • Supports the Finance VP and Regional FP&A PSC NA with the compilation of the Monthly Business Review to Corporate on PSC USA.

Process Efficiencies:

  • Supervise the month end close of the material ledger.  Ensure robust and compliant Cost Accounting process on manufacturing, inventory management, logistics and distribution costs.  Oversee the correct settlement of production orders and review bill of materials for accuracy; plant GL account reconciliations, cost of material variances and production lines efficiencies in line with Campari Accounting principles and FP&A model.
  • Enhance, implement and enforce Group and Regional policies and procedures by way of systems that will improve the overall operating effectiveness of the assigned areas.
  • Highlight US business specificities to the Group IT and Controlling departments and play active role in driving prioritization of new reporting functionality and ensure that PSC requirements are met with an evolving reporting infrastructure to deliver timely and relevant business intelligence to the PSC key stakeholders.
  • Provide input and support on contract agreements to ensure agreements will deliver optimal financial results.
  • Develop robust tools and processes to support ongoing ROI activities for tangible and intangible asset analysis/decision support.

  • Ensure effective communication of financial performance management processes to ensure compliance and timely reporting.
  • Establish consistent and effective levels of service and leadership to the US PSC Leadership team as well as the Campari America BU leadership team. 
  • Works with the local businesses to ensure compliance with IT requirements and systems
  • Contributes to the financial aspects of regional IT projects within the PSC USA scope

Functional Leadership:

  • First point of contact to address all inquiries at the local level from the VP PSC USA and regional FP&A team. 
  • Provide effective financial leadership across the PSC operations, raising the awareness and standards of financial competency in those operations.
  • Proactive support to PSC decision-making process, providing proper and robust analysis (including relevant financials as well operational analysis if needed and working closely with business and other finance key players.
  • Responsible for ensuring the continued development of the PSC Finance team providing leadership and mentoring, effective team coordination and succession planning. 
  • Constantly review capabilities and design of the team and processes, so it evolves as the business evolves.
  • Set appropriate goals and provide timely feedback to challenge employees to perform at higher levels.
  • Attract, select, retain and develop individuals who further the talent agenda of the broader Finance team and who have demonstrated adaptability, ability to work with and influence others with a collaborative, business centric view, taking appropriate risks, builds trust and drives accountability consistent with the values and culture of the department.       

Experience Required

  • 5-10 years progressively increasing leadership in finance preferably in a manufacturing environment with a focus in the area of financial planning and analysis.
  • Experience in the beverage alcohol industry a plus.

Education / Professional Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or other related degree.
  • MBA preferred.

  • Experience with analysis, forecasting, budgeting and management reporting including proven success in streamlining processes.
  • Proven success in a lead business partnering finance role in a fast paced, changing environment; demonstrate desire to lead and drive initiatives across marketing and sales.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with and influence across all levels within the organization.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting and finance regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated analytical ability to conduct research, data analysis and resolve complex problems.
  • Demonstrated advanced financial modeling experience.  Excellent spreadsheet skills (functions/macros/BVA) and MS Excel power user level is strongly desired.
  • Previous experience in root cause identification analysis and working with IT to find system solutions

Technical                                                                            

  • Strong planning, organization, delegation and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with ERP System (preferably SAP)

Essential Job Functions

  • Travel estimated 20-25% (one week per month after on boarding and an extended stay at the plant in Kentucky during the onboarding phase.
