CELLAR SUPERVISOR – SUTTER HOME WINERY (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

Job Summary: 
Lead cellar staff in daily work and ensuring staff follow company policy and safety procedures. Design processes and develop team members.

Leadership:

•Manages and implements the required training of team and ensures adherence to all policies, procedures and governmental regulations.

•Responsible for the selection of top talent and on the job training for new hires and coaching for       top performance.

Communications: 
•Manages all TFE Communications with weekly staff meetings
•Ensures smooth and effective shift turnovers
•Provides timely communication to team regarding company and departmental updates, opportunities, events, etc.
•Communicates effectively through email, phone or face-to-face. 
•Effectively presents topics to a group audience of direct reports, peers or upper management.

Safety Management:
•Facilitates a safety culture of accountability and engagement
•Ensures adherence to all TFE Safety Programs
•Ensures all timely safety training, hazardous awareness and general housekeeping and documentation updated in LMS
•Accountable for understanding and ensuring compliance with the Food and Quality Management System, including the ISO Food Safety & Quality Policy
•Responsible for understanding Quality Management System related activities, including the quality policy and ISO awareness
•Food Safety Responsibility: Report problems with the food safety management system to Manager

Administrative:
•Manage time and attendance in an accurate and timely manner
•Manage work schedules (ensures lunch and breaks) 
•Assist with labor planning needs for the cellar department (full time and seasonal) and responsible for selection of top talent.

Operations: 
•Supervise the operation of winery process machinery
•Supervise cellar sanitation and maintenance
•Supervise the transfer, racking or blending of wines and juices
•Supervise the filtration of wines and juices
•Supervise the crushing and pressing of grapes
•Supervise the sterilization of tanks, hoses, pumps, and other related winemaking equipment
•Supervise the treatment of wines and juices with fining agents and/or cellar chemicals as directed
•Supervise and maintain the  general cleanliness and good sanitation in wine processing area
•Supervise the preparation of cellar chemicals and fining agents
•Identifies employee training needs and follows through to accomplish desired results
•Manage the training, advancement, safety and evaluation of the cellar crew
•Supervise and direct the daily work of the cellar crew in all activities of winemaking
•Schedule work orders and job assignments for the cellar crew
•Complete other special projects as directed

Qualifications:
•Education: Technical or College degree preferred 
•Years of Experience: 5 or more years Winemaking experience in a supervisory role preferred
•Experience supervising temporary employees during crush preferred
•Language: Bi-lingual preferred
•Understands and has experience with LEAN concepts preferred
•Knowledge of cellar operation including filtration, processing, and cooperage preferred
•Valid California driver’s license and ability to maintain a clean DMV record
•Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
•Strong analytical and problem solving skills
•Strong interpersonal skills, proven ability to communicate effectively and work well with other employees  "team player"
•Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow through with projects
•Excellent organizational and time management skills
•Proactive in addressing problems for positive results
•Process oriented with focus on continuous improvement
•Work independently without Supervision, as well as part of large groups and teams.
•Strong Computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel) to write reports
•Accurately carry out written and verbal instructions
•Proven track record of working safe, efficient and in cooperative manner
•Stay current with changes in the winemaking procedures and techniques 
•Support and model all Company policies and procedures 
•Knowledge to operate all winery process machinery in an efficient, safe and sanitary manner 
 
Working Conditions:
•Moderate to heavy physical work 
•Work site may be any one of Trinchero Family Estates’ facilities
•Standing for long periods of time (8 hours per day)
•Must comply with all safety equipment requirements including ear plugs and safety glasses
•Exposure to various chemicals in production areas
•Exposure to machinery, forklifts and related production equipment
•Long and irregular hours during peak periods or on various shifts
•Extensive walking and lifting of up to 55 pounds
