Job Summary
  1. Retail Sales (80%)
  • Provides customer service and information on non wine products to guests.
  • Regularly monitors and communicates best seller, customer comments, etc. to appropriate team
  • Assists in inventory and stock replenishment.  Processes transfers and receives product into inventory with assistance from other Hospitality staff.
  • Assists with planning, execution, and reconciliation of quarterly non-wine inventory. 
  • Interfaces with Hospitality Supervisor, Merchandising and Visual departments, following the Visuals’ team lead, to ensure key products are strategically placed and that stock levels are adequate to support anticipated sales.  Monitors sales and recommends adjustments to quantity and placement as necessary.
  • Creates and disseminates monthly, standardized un-marked product SKU look up sheets.
  • With Hospitality Supervisor, provides coaching to hospitality staff on sales techniques.
  • Maintains and keeps retail and bar areas clean and tidy according to established standards and policies.
  • Maintains product and display areas in best presentation condition through dusting, polishing silver, polishing glass and cleaning products and shelves.
  • Discusses retail product selection with guests and assists with sales.
  • Discusses wines with guests and assists with wine sales.
  • Responsible for processing transactions and voids on register system of wine and non-wine retail products, wrapping of merchandise, processing forms for shipment of wine and non-wine retail products.
  • Responsible for keeping up to date with reciprocal shipping laws and adhering to established policies regarding the shipment of wine.
  • Responsible for keeping information materials behind retail counter current.
  1. Chateau Hospitality (20%)
  • Support guest experiences throughout Chateau as needed:
    • Tastings – conduct educational tastings for guests and assist Chateau Hospitality and other staff members with set up and breakdown as needed
    • Tours – provide guests with tour and history of Estate
    • Host – greet guests, answer phones, provide information and promote sale of guest experiences
    • Bistro– provide table and bar service to guests
    • Events – support event staff with tours, tastings, wine service and sales during receptions and dinners
  • Other Special Projects as directed

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities; but certain “Lead” positions may provide work leadership to other employees or take on additional responsibilities. 

Job Requirements:

Education/Experience:

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to two years experience presenting and selling ultra premium wine.   Retail experience preferred.  Must be at least age 21 to serve alcohol.

  • POS proficient -in RMS or similar system.
  • Knowledge of Napa Valley and vicinity amenities.
  • Knowledge of wine and wine making techniques at Inglenook and other major wine regions of the world.
