Cellar Supervisor (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

Responsibilties

  • Organize daily work assignments and prioritize workflow
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining a safe work environment, including timely training and documentation, hazards awareness and mitigation, and general housekeeping.
  • Accountable for adherence to operational SOP’s
  • Accountable for accuracy and completeness of Process documents
  • Accountable for work quality of staff; assures process integrity and timeliness are within established guidelines
  • Perform staff related administrative tasks, including time approval, scheduling, and discipline.
  • Assure supply levels are adequate and do not impact productivity
  • Routinely and thoroughly communicate between shifts, with Cellar workers, Maintenance, Winemaking, and Cellar Administrative staff, assuring pertinent information is effectively conveyed.
  • Enforce the company’s work rules and Bargaining Unit Agreement in a fair and non-partial manner
  • Mentor foreman; develop their leadership skills, technical and process knowledge
  • Responsible for accuracy and completeness of Process documents
  • Assist in planning and execution of weekly production schedules
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Physical Demands

  • Position will be exposed to indoor and outdoor environments with varying noise levels
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, standing, and twisting in the performance of various tasks in a production environment
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs occasionally

Qualifications

  • Technical and/or College degree preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • 3-5 years supervisory/leadership experience
  • Ability to set priorities and work independently within set guidelines
  • Strong knowledge of production operations, preferably cellar/winemaking experience
  • Desire to stay current with changes in winemaking procedures and techniques
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to determine the root cause of the problem
  • Ability to interface with subordinates; peers and senior leadership
  • Computer skills, specifically MS Office applications
    Good written and verbal communication skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent
