Under the direction of the owner and general manager, the Tasting Room Manager is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the winery Tasting Room. This position is responsible for facilitating retail and wholesale sales programs, opening and closing the Tasting Room, managing/supervising consumer tours, tastings and hospitality programs and events, managing wine festivals, meeting wine club sign up and retention goals, controlling food inventories and kitchen routines, and executing policies and procedures set forth by management. All efforts are focused on attaining monthly sales goals, providing gracious hospitality to consumers and trade, and contributing to a rewarding work environment for TR staff.

This position requires drive and enthusiasm as well as proven sales, hospitality or fast casual dining management experience. You enjoy personally selling to customers as well as training and managing team members. You are organized and pay attention to detail while multi-tasking. Candidates must be well spoken, polished, and demonstrate warmth and grace with partners, staff and visitors. You are hard-working and a self-starter.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Achieve or exceed financial goals.

·         Create and execute engaging, educational, and memorable positive guest experiences.

·         Resolve guest concerns/complaints using good judgment and tact.

·         Acquire a commanding knowledge of wines, vineyards, winemaking, appellations, winery and sense of place.

·         Hiring and training of hospitality associates.

·         Oversee daily staff in the Tasting Room to ensure proper hospitality and service is provided to all customers and that company procedures are employed in all sales and customer service transactions.

·         Handle all aspects of Tasting Room staff scheduling, including staff calendar (to be produced at least 2 months in advance), make adjustments as necessary for new group tastings, emergency calls and replacements.

·         Keep tasting room stocked with necessary supplies.

·         Possess in-depth knowledge of POS system, including ability to effectively perform opening and closing procedures, inventory tasks, and weekly/monthly reports.

·         Ensure that merchandise displays are tastefully done, updated regularly, and add to the ambiance of the Tasting Room.

·         Maintain clean and tidy front of house and work areas

·         Provide the owner with weekly/monthly reports. 

·         Ensure correct and timely shipping of wine to customers. Maintain current knowledge of new legal issues pertaining to inter-state shipping of wine to consumers.

·         Regularly educate staff on related legal subjects as well as assist with making certain that all Tasting Room POS materials and social media postings are current with legal parameters.

·         Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

·         Must be available to work weekends and holidays.

·         Two to three years of prior retail tasting room, consumer direct sales, and/or fast casual dining experience required.

·         Must have demonstrated sales ability and excellent organizational and customer service skills.

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required. Proficiency in a POS system and working with websites a plus. Knowledge of internet/social media strongly preferred.

·         Must have reliable transportation

·         Must be able to lift 40 pounds
