The Sr. Specialist will be responsible for processing reports for expenditures on the Corporate American Express Card (Amex) and for employee reimbursements. He/she will be responsible for making Amex journal entries and reconciling accounts during month-end, as well as re-class entries, as necessary. He/she will communicate with those internal to the Company regarding expense reimbursement related items. The successful candidate should have a solid understanding of accounting principles, great customer service skills, and be both very organized and very detail oriented.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Monitor and manage the expense reports email mailbox.
• Process Amex and employee expense reimbursement reports.
• Ensure that reimbursement submissions are in compliance with Company requirements.
• Create a weekly cash reimbursement JE for upload and then provide the data to payroll on a bi-weekly basis.
• Send e-mail notifications to associates who will be receiving an expense reimbursement on their paycheck.
• Reconcile the Amex-Personal Use AR account and prepare account reconciliations.
• Follow up with associates for outstanding AR.
• Send e-mail notifications to associates with open Amex balances.
• Prepare journal entries for adjustments and month-end accruals.
• Upload monthly Amex data to Lawson via journal entries for month-end.
• Bring issues / concerns to their supervisor and/or manager’s attention.
• Develop a knowledge base in our accounting systems and participate in system testing and enhancements.
• Assist team members as needed to meet all department deadlines.
• Participate in special projects as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Experience, Skills and Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience
• Equivalent Experience: 2-5 years in accounts payable or expense reimbursement
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage conflicting priorities
• Proficient in MS Excel and Word
• Good basic math skills
• Good organizational skills
Preferred Experience, Skills and Education:
• Knowledge of Lawson/Infor or other automated financial systems
