Safety Services Specialist (Wine Jobs: Management & Administration)

Implement safety programs and cultivate employee safety culture under the direction of the Senior Manager of Health and Safety. Provide technical research, documentation, and continuous improvement of all safety and health related programs for SMWE facilities. Assist in the administration of all EH&S programs at all locations ensuring compliance with local, state and federal laws pertaining to safety, health, and environment.

Essential Functions:
•  Assist in the development and continuous improvement of the safety management system 
•  Maintain and routinely test emergency preparedness plans
•  Provide emergency first aid or ensure emergency first aid is available
•  Lead emergency response teams for high risk facilities and locations
•  Manage the maintenance of all required safety and loss prevention records and documentation
•  Participate in Manager and Employee Safety Committee meetings
•  Assist in developing Safety related programs and policies, strong and demonstrable working knowledge in all OSHA related safety program elements 
•  Maintain company compliance with safety related local, state and federal regulations
•  Ensure safety inspections are conducted at all locations and file appropriate reports
•  Review capital projects for safety and health impacts
•  Conduct and document incident investigations
•  Have the ability to learn the necessary industrial hygiene and workplace monitoring activities, including maintenance and calibration of instruments 
•  Assist with maintenance of safety records and documentation
•  Develop and deliver safety training modules 
•  Assist with maintenance of inventory, ordering and stocking of safety supplies
•  As applicable, maintain contact and compliance with insurance company consultants, Labor & Industries Representatives, law enforcement (both county and state), Department of Ecology (DOE), Factory Mutual Engineers (loss management, inspections, fire protection and new program planning), local fire departments/emergency service organizations for training, area physicians, hospitals, clinics and occupational medical case management personnel for treatment, referrals and other health issues, and other local, state and federal officers.

Working Conditions:
•  60 percent of work day spent in agricultural, operational, and manufacturing areas
•  40 percent of workday spent in office areas 
•  Able to travel up to 10%

Physical Requirements:
Driving vehicle, climbing stairs, walking rough terrain

Qualifications:
•  Previous experience in agricultural or manufacturing operations
•  Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree a plus 
•  Computer literacy (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) – able to demonstrate proficiencies
•  Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license or emergency medical response background a plus
•  Practical understanding of ergonomic risks in manufacturing, agriculture or industrial settings a plus
•  Experience in hearing conservation programs – understanding why hearing protection is important 
•  Technical writing skills – able to put thought to paper in an organized way 
•  Proven training skills – feeling confident and comfortable talking in front of large groups 
•  Prior Six Sigma Lean Manufacturing training desirable
•  Familiarity with state and federal safety regulations a plus 
•  Bilingual capabilities (English/Spanish) a plus
•  Must understand safety data sheets (SDS) and be able to interpret the information
•  Completion of forklift instructor and first responder courses required after hire
•  Working knowledge of noise and air monitoring equipment
•  Must be able to become a certified Emergency Medical Technician or First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor
•  History of responsible use of alcohol and other appropriate conduct, as well as fitness to be licensed, permitted, and/or certified by state and/or local regulatory bodies.
