Description

• To provide and gain hands on experience in enology during harvest season (generally September through December) at our Canoe Ridge in Paterson, WA. 

• Assist in daily tank and barrel rounds checking and recording brix and temperature 

• Assist in cellar activities including but not limited to: grape evaluation, pumpovers, pomace shoveling, chemical additions, general cellar sanitation.

• Assist in laboratory duties including but not limited to: tank sampling, assisting with common winery analysis. 

• Update/ maintain excel spreadsheets on a daily basis including acid tracking & juice receiving

• Provide necessary assistance to winemaking and lab staff as needed

• Update and maintain tank board on a daily basis with movements and additions

• Participate in and track harvest experiments in accordance with winemaking staff directions and produce summary reports

• Set up tastings and trials for winemaking staff as needed 

• Produce reports as needed

• Complete all written and verbal assignments as directed

• Understand and adhere to all safety policies and procedures

• Cellar tasks, vineyard inspections and representing the winery at public events.

• Day or night shift, up to 60 hours a week, varying temperatures, on a team or independent, often fast paced.

• Be able to lift 50 lbs., walk several miles a day

Requirements

• Minimum Age requirement of 21 when working within winemaking

• HS Diploma or equivalent required. 

• Current enrollment or completion of a degree or certificate program relating to enology, viticulture or related field.

• Possess a passion for wine, and desire to work in a motivated team environment

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Must possess strong organizational skills as well as a high degree on accuracy and attention to detail

• Strong spreadsheet and database skills

• Ability to work days or nights, in varying temperatures and extended hours (10 hour shifts 6 days per week) as needed dependent upon production needs.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. intermittently 

• History of responsible use of alcohol and other appropriate conduct, as well as fitness to be licensed, permitted, and/or certified by state and/or local regulatory bodies.
