Under the direction of the Facilities Winemaker, the Cellar Master is responsible for managing a smooth workflow in the cellar and on the crush pad, including bottling, racking, pumping, filtering, forklift operation, crushing, pressing and other production related responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Working in collaboration with the Assistant Winemaker to coordinate and manage all aspects of the cellar to ensure quality and operational efficiency, while under the supervision of the Facilities Winemaker
• Manages day to day supervision of the cellar staff to ensure a safe, efficient and effective work environment
• Creates and manages daily work schedules and assign work orders to ensure maximum efficiencies
• Balances work orders to fulfill TTB requests
• Manages and ensures barrel inventories are correct and concise, through use and implementation of JDE and barrel scanners
• Ensures production equipment is properly maintained and operating to safety standards, and addresses issues in a timely manner with Assistant Winemaker and Facilities Maintenance Manager
• Helps ensure winemaking equipment and procedures meet production goals, and identifies ways in which the processes can be improved by researching new equipment, as well as setting up product demonstrations with vendors
• Coordinates with Laboratory Technician to ensure all required analysis for daily work schedule are in process
• Responsible for supervising, training and developing production staff
• Responsible for monitoring and approving assigned production staffs' labor hours/time cards
• Responsible for monitoring facility water use, and understanding waste water system needs and processes
• Communicate with Facilities Maintenance Manager to ensure the facility stays within daily use totals and limits for water use
• Responsible for assigned production staff annual review process
• Assists with Sales and Marketing requests related to designated event support
• Any other duties assigned​

What you'll bring to the table:

• Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred, but not required; proven success with a minimum of three (3) years previous winery experience and managing a production team
• Demostrate strong ability to work under pressure
• Ability to establish direction, obtain commitment and execute appropriate production processes
• Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English. Conversational Spanish strongly desired
• Must be able to perform technical calculations, assemble data in spreadsheets and charts/graphs, and manage budgets
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations​
