Delicato Family Vineyards has an exciting immediate career opportunity for a Region Sales Manager located in the Oklahoma City, OK area.

Position Summary

The Region Sales Manager leads and directs dedicated sales team and distributor management to meet and exceed business plan and performance objectives. This position is responsible for the creation, implementation, and execution of strategic sales initiatives by channel of distribution.  Customers include On/Off Premise, Chain, and Independent, Regional, National, and other licensed retail wine accounts.

Manager Responsibilities

  • Understand, communicate, and share Company vision throughout division/organization and provide cross-functional perspective, direction, and support
  • Provide leadership and personal support; coach, guide, nurture and develop the right people; “walk the talk”
  • Drive Company focus, manage culture, encourage strong work ethic, and foster an environment of trust and respect
  • Develop group and individual performance plans in alignment with Company goals and objectives; communicate clearly defined individual and group objectives; maintain level of productivity in unit
  • Train employees to do their job; set standards for work performance
  • Monitor performance and provide feedback to direct reports through formal and informal performance feedback; regularly communicate with staff to achieve mutual understanding and desired results
  • Recognize and address performance strengths and limitations of subordinates
  • Manage employee attendance to ensure compliance with Company standards; approve/monitor overtime
  • Communicate and support Company policies and decisions in a positive manner
  • Develop staffing needs, select new employees, make recommendations in job evaluation and compensation, recommend termination actions
  • Conduct team meetings with department employees; includes monthly safety topic
  • Handle employee issues, concerns, and complaints in an objective and confidential manner
  • Provide employees with a safe, comfortable, and rewarding work environment
  • Prepare and monitors department budget

Duties/Essential Job Functions

  • Fosters team work; recruits, trains, and develops the right people
  • Accurately assesses strengths and development needs of team members; gives timely, specific feedback and helpful coaching; provides opportunities for development; manages performance on an on-going basis
  • Identifies critical, high payoff strategies and prioritizes team/distributor efforts consistent with the organization’s goals
  • Assigns responsibilities; delegates and empowers others; removes obstacles; coordinates work efforts when necessary; monitors team/distributor performance (depletions, shipments, pricing, promotional materials, and various required reports, etc.)
  • Coordinates and utilizes all promotional and marketing materials with sales team and distributor management
  • Uses financial and quantitative information effectively to manage; responsible for P&L
  • Ensures agreed upon sales volume and profit goals are achieved while aggressively controlling costs within the work unit; makes decisions that enhance the organization’s financial position; spending profitability
  • Actively calls on key accounts and assists sales team where applicable
  • Displays vision and a keen sense of the future; seeks new business/distribution opportunities
  • Proactively analyzes potential problems to avoid emergency situations and acts to correct
  • Assists Division Manager in developing sales forecast for region; sets and communicates objectives to team and/or distributors; including six month marketing planner

Position Requirements

Education                 

  • Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis on business administration, sales, or marketing                

Experience               

  • 6-9 years wine supplier and/or distributor experience in selling wine, building brands, and conducting customer calls
  • 3-5 years management experience with specific personnel and distributor management experience

Knowledge, Skills and Ability:     

  • Demonstrated leadership and successful track record; market and distributor knowledge; excellent communication, presentation, customer service, organizational, and negotiation skills; detail oriented; results driven; PC literate (Excel, PowerPoint, Email); ability to navigate in the Internet/Intranet environments and use Nielsen/BDN data for effective business development; acceptable driving history
  • Must possess in-depth working knowledge of wine and the wine industry
