Purchasing Agent (Wine Jobs: Management & Administration)

Job Overview: M.S. Walker, a leading distributor of fine wines and spirits based in Norwood, MA has an opening on our supply team for a Purchasing Agent. Reporting to the Director of Purchasing/Logistics, you will be responsible for maintaining appropriately safe inventory levels to service our retail and on premise customers. 

Key Responsibilities:

•  Responsible for assigned product families and suppliers
•  Collaborate with sales & brand management teams to establish forecasts and depletion goals; to effect procurement plans to support these goals
•  Recognize and analyze sales trends
•  Aggregate sources of demand to build forecasts
•  Understand and apply the tenants of time-phased inventory planning; ensure supply chain plans sufficiently support sales forecasts and target dates
•  Define and maintain par levels and lead times for each supplier
•  Generate purchase orders for submission to suppliers
•  Optimize inventory asset management to achieve best of class performance by providing the highest service levels with the most efficient investment (days/dollars)
•  Work with suppliers, freight service providers and internal logistics team members to obtain timely and cost effective delivery services
•  Develop and maintain positive relationships (external and internal) 
•  Work with warehouse operations staff to assist with receiving and rotation issues
•  Assist in resolution of all discrepancies on supplier invoices
•  Maintain item specifications and special notes within ERP system
•  Adhere to all Federal and State regulations and procedures

Knowledge/Experience: 

•  Demonstrated analytical and problem solving capabilities
•  Ability to multitask and manage changing business conditions
•  Experience working with external sources of supply
•  Excellent communication skills (verbal, written interpersonal)
•  Experience working with an ERP software application
•  Proficiency with Microsoft Excel & Word
•  Professional certifications preferred
Education:
•  3 to 7 years of relevant procurement or supply chain planning experience
•  Bachelor’s Degree BS/BA 
•  Equivalent life/work experience
