Tasting Room Manager (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

Bergström Wines, has been a quintessential grower of Oregon Pinot Noir and Chardonnay since 1999. We believe world-class wines from Willamette Valley's preeminent hillside vineyards can only be achieved through nonindustrial, artisanal winemaking. We farm all of our estate vineyards using biodynamic methods and are a leader in the sustainable farming of wine grapes in Oregon. 
We are seeking an engaging and dynamic individual to manage our tasting room team. We are looking for an enthusiastic, sales and hospitality focused individual who is excited to share our history and work closely with our DTC Manager to achieve sales goals. This position will require you to be a self-starter, motivating leader and team player. The ideal candidate will set high standards for themselves and their staff. 

Essential responsibilities:
- Hire, train and manage tasting room staff
- Achieve quarterly, monthly and annual sales, club sign up and customer data collection goals
- Educate guests on our wines, bio-dynamic farming practices and the Bergström family story
- Host tours of the facility and vineyard
- Understand the value of our wine club members, and host member tastings with the highest level of customer service, fostering long-term relationships, retention and the creation of brand ambassadors
- Work with DTC Sales Manager to: 
o create revenue-generating tasting programs and curriculum
o create sales and membership goals for tasting room staff
o develop and implement compensation and incentive plans for tasting room staff
o create and nurture industry relationships: drivers, hotels, wineries, etc.
- Process orders and follow up with customer requests
- Opening and closing procedures for winery and sales systems
- Conduct wine and non-wine inventory management at multiple locations
- Conduct month/quarter end sales reporting and daily register batch closing. 
- Drive company focus and culture by encouraging a strong work ethic, adherence to policies and procedures and fostering a positive work environment. 
- Regular communication of weekly, monthly and annual goals to the tasting room staff
- Assist Hospitality & Events Manager to with event planning and production as needed, and coordinating tasting room staffing for events. 

Must have:
Ability to work in a fast paced environment with changing priorities while maintaining grace and enthusiasm at all times
Polished presentation, phone and verbal communication skills
Experience in the food and/or wine industry in sales and service
A passion for wine, hospitality and strong customer service skills 
Be over 21 years of age
OLCC permit or the ability to acquire one
Flexible work schedule which includes weekends, holidays and some evenings. The shift typically runs 9am-5pm or later. 
Computer literate in Excel, Outlook and able to navigate a Point of Sale system
Ability to lift 45lbs and stand for long periods of time
Reliable transportation
