Le Cadeau/Aubichon Cellars have a long history of producing highly acclaimed Oregon pinot noir. With the addition of a new facility our production is growing. We are looking for an assistant winemaker who is passionate, flexible and fun to join our small team. We are actively seeking an individual who’s self-motivated to produce compelling wines, who’s interested in going the extra mile and desires to grow with our team. Communication and organizational skills are a must. Under the direction of the winemaker, this individual will be responsible for the coordination and execution of all daily operations.
Duties:
• Assist the Winemaker with planning and executing tasks
• Able to comfortably manage operations for the winemaker during periods of his absence
• Schedule and supervise wine production operations including but not limited to wine fermentation, blending, stabilization, bottling and storage
• Help prevent problems with wines and communicate potential issues promptly to winemaker
• Management and active participation in cellar duties
• Conduct common wet chemistry
• Maintain computer software database
• Preparation and participation in sensory evaluation trials
• Strong attention to small details and troubleshooting skills a must
• Coordinate and communicate winemaking activities and information with custom crush clients
• Bottling preparation and execution
Requirements:
• 3 or more years held in a similar position, with at least five years minimal wine production experience. Degree preferred, but not essential.
• Experience with both the practical and technical aspects of the winemaking process and understands winemaking regulatory requirements
• Understands all aspects of harvest, fermentation, cellar work, and winemaking analysis
• Strong attention-to-detail and good project management skills with an ability to prioritize multiple tasks
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as the ability to gain knowledge of other related computer programs & databases
• Able to be flexible with hours during common busy times such as harvest and bottling
• Ability to climb stairs and to lift up to 60+ pounds
• Reliable, autonomous, self-motivated with a strong sense of duty
• Interest in team work, a forward thinker, and a desire to grow with the company
• Strong communication and social skills, a sense of humor, and a good taste in music are a must
