Oregon
A certified B Corp and a global 2015 B Corp Champion, A to Z Wineworks has been recognized as one of the top four small businesses in Oregon two years in a row and as one of the top ten most admired agricultural companies in the state. One of Oregon’s largest wineries, a joyful commitment to excellence in quality, service, education and value distinguishes the company.
The Opportunity
REX HILL & A to Z Wineworks, located in Oregon’s picturesque Northern Willamette Valley, seeks qualified & experienced cellar interns for the 2017 vintage.
At A to Z Wineworks, harvest is intense and filled with opportunity with fruit arriving from around the state - primarily Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Chardonnay, plus a cross-section of other varieties. This diversity of fruit comes from our bio-dynamically farmed and LIVE-certified estate vineyards, as well as conventionally-farmed locations across many different AVAs. The vineyard sizes range from several hundred acres to very small sites.
Usually our internship begins mid-August through early November depending on the timing of the vintage. We value interns who share in our company culture of working hard, working smart, and enjoying what we do. You will work with the most years of collective winemaking experience in Oregon—experience that stretches from here to Burgundy to New Zealand. Our winemakers approach winemaking from different perspectives and often have opposing viewpoints, and most importantly, they are willing to share what they know. This contributes to the excellent opportunity to learn more about winemaking on different production scales and with different stylistic goals, from small 1-2 ton fermentations with manual punch-downs, all the way up to 40-ton fermenters equipped with PulsAir technology.
