Retail Sales Position (Wine Jobs: Sales & Marketing)

Chelsea Wine Vault, located in the heart of Manhattan's Meatpacking and Chelsea districts, has an opening for a full time Sales position. 

Our store is located within the historic Chelsea Market building and is a 19 year established retail store providing knowledgeable advice and sales expertise on fine wine and spirits.

POSITION SUMMARY:

A desirable candidate will be a self-motivated and driven salesperson with experience teaching wine and spirits classes, retail experience, wine knowledge, and enthusiasm to work one-on-one with our customers. This position provides an excellent opportunity to continue one’s exposure to wine and the industry.

We are seeking a candidate with an enthusiastic and personable presentation style, strong interpersonal skills, an appreciation and knowledge of fine wine, an ability and willingness to work weekends.

Qualifications:

*Previous sales experience, particularly wine retail required
*Strong customer service skills required
*Experience teaching wine or spirits classes to customers.
*Creating and maximizing opportunities for wine sales
*Telephone sales skills (primarily, the ability to field incoming sales calls and make wine recommendations)
*Product knowledge of the world’s major wine producing areas.
*Knowledge of food and wine pairing
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills
*Professional appearance and attitude
*Ability to start a project and carry through to successful implementation
*A pro-active and enthusiastic attitude toward maximizing sales opportunities
*Experience working wine/tasting events; Sommelier certification or other type of certification a plus
*Experience teaching & leading educational wine classes preferred.
*Must possess at least intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Word & Excel

Schedule will include at least one weekend shift and some closing shifts (9pm). 40 hours a week.
$15-$18/hour depending on experience 

A wine product knowledge test will be given to all applicants selected for interviews.
