Blue Mountain Vineyards is actively looking for an energetic and highly motivated individual whose focus will be to assist with the various aspects of vineyard duties throughout the season and assist in winery operations when needed. Blue Mountain Vineyards is looking for someone who enjoys working outside in a job that encompasses all aspects of vineyard operations throughout the lifecycle of the vine; from spring pruning to fall harvest.
Applicants for this part-time position (with the potential to go full-time) should be of strong mind and body, have good communication skills and have a great mechanical ability. Applicants must also understand and be able to proficiently operate farm tractors and agricultural machinery.
Duties and responsibilities
Complete routine viticulture activities under the supervision of Vineyard Manager. Task can include but are not limited to:
- Vine pruning
- Leaf pulling
- Hedging
- Cluster thinning
- Tractor operations-including specialized machinery
- Tying of vines to trellis
- Trellis construction
- Weed control
- Grass cutting
- Harvesting
Other responsibilities include:
- Warehousing
- Assisting with Bottling or other Winery Operations
- Deliveries
Qualifications
- Ability to work outdoors under varying conditions
- Ability to work independently without constant supervision
- Ability to lift 50 lbs or more
- Reliable transportation
- Vineyard or farming experience preferred
​Physical requirements
Standing for extended periods of time, walking, bending, crouching and kneeling. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to operate farming implements, large machinery, vehicles on flat land and hillsides. Employee is exposed to wet and or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, farming chemicals and fertilizers. The employee will be exposed to seasonal weather conditions.
