Position Purpose:

The Public Relations Manager works with the Director of Public Relations to manage Delicato’s growing national portfolio of brands. The Public Relations Manager will play a key role within the marketing department, developing brand awareness and securing national press for primary and secondary brands. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public relations, excellent writing skills, established media contacts and possess a strong background and breadth of knowledge in wine. The Public Relations Manager will work closely with Delicato’s brand management team and will execute public relations strategies and initiatives that are consistent with brand objectives and that support a 360° marketing approach.

Essential Duties:

  • Develops and implements strategic PR programs to achieve significant increases in brand awareness
  • Prepares annual PR plans and manages PR activities for key priority brands
  • Creates compelling story angles and pitches to both national and local media including print, broadcast and online
  • Explores and activates nontraditional, cost-effective partnership and awareness-building opportunities
  • Drafts copy for winemaker notes, brand overviews, social media outlets, etc.
  • Cultivates relationships with key wine industry and lifestyle journalists at national, local and trade publications
  • Writes clear and compelling media pitch letters and press releases
  • Identifies media trends, news cycles and spin opportunities
  • Works with brand management and digital teams to effectively cross-pollinate social programming and PR programming
  • Maintains and develops dynamic, targeted media lists
  • Proactively manages editorial calendars
  • Creates, maintains and distributes press kit materials and content
  • Represents Delicato’s brands at select consumer, trade and press events

 Non-Essential Duties:

  • Assists where needed across the organization

Education and Experience:

  • College degree required; Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing or related field preferred
  • 3-5 years in professional public relations capacity
  • Strong written, presentation and verbal communication skills with proven ability in creative writing (samples required)
  • Wine industry experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of wine industry with key contacts and relationships
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Poised and professional public speaker
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, creative and organizational skills demonstrated by the ability to make timely and sound decisions
  • Understanding of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube and other emerging digital platforms
  • High energy with an entrepreneurial drive to succeed
  • Ability to take initiative, manage multiple priorities / deadlines and work independently
  • Strong “teamwork” orientation
  • A passion for wine and the wine industry
  • Advanced computer skills including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Flexible schedule required as some work may include weekends, nights and travel with overnight stays
