MATERIALS PURCHASER (Wine Jobs: Management & Administration)

POSITION SUMMARY

Purchases packaging materials for non-wine related products at minimum cost, consistent with delivery requirements and quality specifications, to support the production schedule for numerous brands. Maintains inventory logs for non-wine related products and services. Assists with dry goods inventory management for the Napa facility to maintain proper space management and inspecting incoming materials to maintain quality control and proper inventory levels.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops a six-month and annual purchasing plan to support production of non-wine related products. Schedules and places purchase orders for raw materials (Bags, masters, Nuts, Seasoning, Co-packing, Glass, Labels, Stoppers, Capsules).
  • Proofs approvals; processes pricing revisions; initiates order cancellations; addresses discontinued items, acceptable substitutes, back orders; initiates delivery date revisions; expedites critical orders.
  • Inventory management responsibilities for all dry goods to include: writing up dry goods, receipts, entering receiving into NAV, adjusting purchase orders, Kwiktag and scan receiving documents, NAV Inventory Adjustments for re-packs, M-Scrap and Obsolete ware.
  • Assists with the quarterly and annual dry goods inventory: prints tags, enters counts, enters adjustments, researches flagged inventory discrepancies.
  • NAV responsibilities include running Inventory and Open Order Reports and assisting in reconciling them to inventory on hand.
  • Acts as a back up to all aspects of the Packaging Procurement Manager’s position, including purchase order tracking to ensure JIT Inventory management.
  • Purchases all non-bom related materials such as case labels, shippers, export case labels, bottling line materials, and POS materials.
  • Understands and follows the procedures for Don Sebastiani & Sons HACCP and ISO Plan and any updates to this plan that is applicable.
  • Identifies, documents, and implements opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Willingly performs additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience.
  • Five plus years’ experience in purchasing; winery or food related manufacturing experience desirable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Excellent Project Management Skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  •  
    • Requires ability to use up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 pounds continuously to move objects.
    • Requires ability to walk, stand and sit, sometimes for prolonged periods of time.
    • Requires sufficient good health to properly discharge duties.
    • Requires ability to travel to various geographic locations and some overnight stays.
    • Requires ability to drive assigned vehicle(s) or personal vehicle, with appropriate state license, following all laws applicable; must provide proof of liability insurance and must be eligible to be insured under DSS’s insurance policy.
