Human Resources Generalist Role Summary:
As our HR Generalist, you will manage the administration of human resources policies, procedures and programs. In addition, you will lead the talent acquisition and onboarding of new hires. Culture and fit are essential in a fast-growing small company, and therefore senior management will be looking to you for compensation, health benefits administration, training and development, records management, health/wellness and safety, employee relations, morale and culture, and retention. You will have the ability to help develop, implement and guide the culture of Free Flow over the coming years as we grow and continue to take on new opportunities. 

Key Responsibilities:
1. Administers various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel to manage the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures. 
2. Stays abreast of and informs upper management regarding employee relations issues, and work-related problems that adversely affect morale, health, and productivity. Conducts formal investigations and guides resolution on a variety of complex employee relation matters.
3. Partners with the leadership team and hiring managers in recruitment efforts from interviewing candidates to onboarding new employees.
4. Recommends and delivers disciplinary action to employees in conjunction with the manager, when applicable. 
5. Manages and tracks leaves of absences and assesses reasonable accommodations as necessary. 
6. Continuously monitors performance review process for success; ensures that individual goals are aligned with company goals; coaches managers on conducting proper reviews as necessary; solicits feedback from employees; advises leadership on recommended redesign of process as needed. 
7. Advocates for our company culture to foster maintaining an environment of accountability and trust. 
8. Assesses professional development needs of employees and recommends training opportunities. Arranges for employee recreational facilities, teambuilding activities and outings, and wellness initiatives in conjunction with party planning committee. 
9. Performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, open enrollment, and communicating benefit information to employees. 
10. Complies with federal, state, and local legal compliance requirements, advising management on needed actions.
11. Conducts health and safety training to ensure compliance to CalOSHA safety standards. 
12. Implements and maintains company’s HRMS, including employee self-service portal. Analyzes employment related costs and metrics such as turnover, time-to-hire, staffing, and benefits, and recommends changes based on cost savings. 

Required Skills and Experience
1. At least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Experience working independently in a small to mid-size company as HR department of one. 
2. Familiarity with HRIS/HRMA systems and reporting tools. 
3. Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, inclusive of Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 
4. Enthusiasm and the ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial, startup environment.
5. Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Preferred Education and Experience
1. PHR Certification
2. Bachelor’s degree 
3. Affiliation and involvement with HR programs and organizations
