Delicato Family Vineyards has an immediate career opportunity for a Finance Manager supporting our National Sales division.  This position may work out of our Napa office or it may be a home-based position located on the East Coast.

Position Summary: Reporting to the VP Sales Finance and working closely with the National Sales Vice President and Division Managers, the Finance Manager leads financial engagement of assigned territory (East or West) to help achieve financial goals and objectives.  This position coordinates the annual planning cycle for the respective sales division, including annual plan and latest estimates as well as manages the processes and systems that support monthly accounting close and subsequent financial reporting.  The Finance Manager completes a comprehensive monthly business review process with the Vice President, Division Managers, and Region Managers in assigned territory, including identification and mitigation of risks and opportunities.  This position also reviews and approves pricing changes in alignment with brand pricing guidelines and Company objectives. 

Essential Duties:

  • Manages the annual planning process for sales divisions, including detailed breakouts of divisions and subordinate regions, complete with monthly calendarization of sales volume, pricing, revenue, COGS, expenses and margins; manages latest estimate (LE) process

  • Reviews monthly business results with sales managers including financial statements, depletion trends and distributor inventory levels; ensures sales managers understand business results and potential risks and opportunities 

  • Helps develop sales manager financial acumen, including a focus on financial training and sound business management; reinforces key concepts of the Company’s strategy

  • Oversees month end close and selling expense accrual process, requiring monthly collaboration with sales management and accounting

  • Reviews and approves pricing changes in alignment with brand pricing guidelines, local market considerations and Company objectives; helps manage distributor margins

  • Analyzes Nielsen market data to understand local market conditions, supporting informed pricing decisions and volume forecasts

  • Reviews and approves promotional spending proposals (spend requests) to ensure effectiveness of spend and consistency with Company objectives, including coupons, incentives and other promotional activities; conducts post-promotion analysis to determine effectiveness of promotional programs

  • Investigates and corrects anomalies or inaccuracies in financial data or results; facilitates ad hoc analysis

Qualifications: The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field of study; an MBA is a plus. Minimum of five years of experience in accounting or financial management, including prior experience in wine or alcohol beverage business. Familiarity with sales and marketing programs, the three-tier distribution network, and shipment, depletion, and scan data reporting and analysis.  Expert computer skills are required, with the ability to report and analyze multi-dimensional data and complex information.  Must exhibit excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving ability.
