Assistant Tasting Room Manager (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

ESSENTIAL PURPOSE:  Assist in the leadership of our tasting room staff. Support the daily operations of the Odette Tasting Room operation.  This role will be responsible for maintaining the highest quality guest experience through training and development of sales staff.  All efforts are focused on monthly sales goals and providing exceptional hospitality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • In conjunction with the Tasting Room Manager, lead and direct the activities of the Tasting Room team to achieve Tasting Room Business priorities: consumer acquisition, membership-conversion, profit generation, and brand positioning
  • Manage daily business functions, including opening and closing procedures for each business day; ensure that cash accounting is correct and complete at end of business day
  • Respond to customer requests, suggestions, or complaints
  • Work the Tasting Room floor, serve as a tasting room host, pour wine and assist with all aspects of tours, tastings, and hospitality. 

 
Personnel Management:

  • Oversee daily staff in the tasting room to ensure that staff operates according to standards for professionalism and customer service and that company policies and procedures are followed by all staff members
  • Establish an atmosphere of teamwork and positive employee relations
  • Leads team to meet or exceed sales goals based on annual budget
  • Take an active role with the staff across three wineries to build employee unity, being a positive example for customer experience and to evaluate retail employee customer service
  • Work with Tasting Room Manager to ensure that all staff are familiar with current wine release and competitive set.

Other Essential duties

  • Staff scheduling (to be produced at least 2 weeks prior to the next month)
  • Inventory management
  • Merchandise upkeep
  • Back Office administrative duties
    • Shipping, Order Management, and Customer Service Issue Resolution


JOB KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:  
The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years managing a retail business, a passion for wine, excellent customer service skills, and strong communication skills.   

SKILLS AND APTITUDES:  
Highly organized and efficient.  High quality standards for service. Strong verbal communication skills. Working knowledge of AMS back and front office. Proficient with Excel. Great team player and leader.  Trustworthy and reliable. Ability to work weekends and adapt to a flexible schedule.

WORKING CONDITIONS:  
Works indoors and outdoors throughout shift. Extensive facility, varied terrain.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Stands/walks 70% of shift.  Moderate to heavy use of phones, daily.
