We are a retail wine, beer and spirits shop with 2 locations looking for a Beer & Spirits Specialist that is connected to the craft beer and spirits industry, passionate about new beer releases, can help grow our ever expanding beer and spirits selection, as well as boost sales in our beer and spirits category for both locations. This person needs to be knowledgeable about beer and spirits, but also passionate about wine since we are predominantly a wine shop. The Beer & Spirits Specialist will be partnering with the beer and spirits buyer in replenishing stock, as well as helping with tastings. This position may grow into a buyer position with the right candidate.
The Beer & Spirits Specialist is a Front of House Team Member and their primary responsibilities are to deliver a fast and friendly customer experience at the register while ensuring that all transactions are accurate and error free. Front of House team members ensure customers are greeted within 10 seconds, are given a tour of the store, and are assisted with any questions they have regarding their wine needs. Front of House team members participate in weekend wine tastings by checking in attendees, offering tasting sheets and glasses, and assisting customers with their purchases from the tasting line up. This is a part-time or full-time position. Weekend availability is mandatory.
Essential responsibilities:
- Provide great customer service -- Greet customers and acquaint new
customers with the store layout, help locate products, make
recommendations as appropriate
- Be familiar with and maintain knowledge of product offerings and
current sales and promotions
- Answer phone calls and direct or respond to customer queries as appropriate.
- Work with store manager and sommelier to prepare for and/or conduct in-store tastings and corporate events
- Create tasting sheets and store signage with wine/beer/spirits descriptions and pricings
- Monitor online orders and pull products for customer in-store pick-up
- Process in-store sales and phone orders using an e-commerce software
- Ensure the tasting area and sales floor are clean and organized
- Create purchase orders
- Be skilled in using Word, Excel and other necessary software programs
- Be able to carry a case of wine (~50 lbs)
- Knowledgeable about wine preferred but not required
- Knowledgeable about beer & spirits required
